Publisher's Summary

Embark on an epic journey in this all-star cast audio dramatisation of Around the World in 80 Days. This new Original drama features best-in-class performances from Golden Globe-nominee, Emmy-nominee and multiple BAFTA-nominee Toby Jones (The Girl, Directorists, The Hunger Games) as Phileas Fogg, George Blagden (Versailles, Black Mirror, Vikings) as Jean Passerpartout and Don Gilet (Eastenders, Dr Who) as Detective Fix amongst others.

One of the most celebrated tales of all time, Around the World in 80 Days is part high-octane thriller, part fascinating fantasy travelogue. Pragmatic gambler Phileas Fogg has made a gentlemanly wager to the members of his exclusive club: that he can circle the world in just 80 days, right down to the minute.

Fetching his newly appointed French valet, Fogg embarks on a fabulous journey across land and sea - by steamer, rail, and elephant - to win the bet of a lifetime.

Inspired by Jules Verne’s own sea travels and his fascination with circumnavigating the globe, the avid dreamer's picaresque voyage inspired generations of adventurers who were eager to best Verne's challenge - from 19th century journalist Nellie Bly to Monty Python's Michael Palin.

Featuring: George Blagden, Christopher Brandon, John Chancer, Scarlett Courtney, Josh Cowdery, Tim Delap, Sartaj Garewal, Don Gilet, Chris Grahamson, David Holt, Ryan Forde Iosco, Toby Jones, Peter Luke Kenny, Naveed Khan, Christos Lawton, Jack Monaghan, Raad Rawi, Vineeta Rishi, Luke Roskell, Richard Rycroft, Adam Sims, Thomas Stroppel, Homer Todiwala, Matilda Tucker, Amy Vicary-Smith, Julian Wadham, Georgia Warlow, Orlando Wells, Sarah Whitehouse and Sam Woolf.

A fun read!

One of the most fun books I have picked up in a while, especially the BBC dramatised audiobook - which adds to the British humour that is without a doubt very finely delivered.

Entertaining to the last minute

I enjoyed reading this book. The story is a classic Jules Verne adventure. The performance of the actors is mesmerising and keeps you hooked to listening to them till the very last sentence of the book. Definitely worth reading.

Thrilling Adventure Story I Ever Came Across

Loved the story through out, most memorable moment was the way Mr Fog rescued Audha from impending death of Sati ritual and the way they got to know that they had accomplished the wager.

Good Dramatization but Abridged Version of Story

I'm on a quest to read (or listen to) hundreds of classic stories. I'm not sure, having completed this one, that I can check it off my list because this is an adaptation of the story (which I discovered belatedly), not the entire thing. It would be nice if that was advertised more clearly. I will have to be more vigilant about reading reviews of Audible books so I don't waste another four hours with a trimmed down version of a classic. Still, it was enjoyable for what it was.

abridged

The performance is great, but this is not the full version. It is an abridged version and that does not seem to be listed on the store Page

An Adventure Packed Story

This classic was a fun, adventurous and dreamy. The expert narration presented itself as a delightful theateresque production. The audiobook is so descriptive that it made up for my visual senses!

Wow!

I have listened to this Audible two times. The adaptation couldn’t be better. The acting is superb. The attention to detail and the little things they throw in make for a great listen.

Delightful

In these dark times with little travel, I enjoyed traveling Fog & Team. The dramatization was terrific & the story remains a timeless classic.

Brilliant adaptation

This was a really fun romp - I love the way Anna Lea adapts classic fiction; she has a really light touch and manages to retain the style and energy of a novel whilst bringing it to life for audio perfectly.
This is a great production - well performed and produced - and the story was a really fun and intriguing adventure for my otherwise boring commute!

Jules Verne Brought to Life

I have always enjoyed this book since a teenager, (now a pensioner), but this dramatisation was excellent. Thank you Audible.

As vivid as the movie

The sound effects, the dramatic happenings were so succinct in the story that gives a feeling of an imaginary movie playing right before your eyes. Thanks to all that got involved in the process and making of the audio book.

LOVE THIS EXCELLENT PRODUCTION

This is an excellent production that flows beautifully. Great acting by Toby Jones and credit to the rest of the cast who bring the story and all the characters to life. Have listened 3 times since purchasing, it is good clean entertainment that makes me smile. And I did not think I would like it, but I love it. Well done all. 👍
