 Als Max Frisch 1973 in die Berliner Sarrazinstraße zog, begann er ein neues Tagebuch und nannte es "Berliner Journal". Wegen der darin verzeichneten "privaten Sachen" legte er fest, dass es erst zwanzig Jahre nach seinem Tod veröffentlicht werden dürfe. Mit seinem scharfen Blick auf die Welt knüpft er hier stilistisch an seine berühmt gewordenen Tagebücher aus der Nachkriegszeit an.
