Jessie would love to keep the tortoise in her backyard. But Mr. Smith must belong to somebody. Will Jessie find the right home for him?©2003 Jane Godwin (P)2005 Bolinda Publishing Pty Ltd. Childhood Education Education

Editorial Reviews

Australian voice actor Stig Wemyss performs this delightful short story about a little girl named Jessie who one day discovers a freshwater tortoise - right in her own backyard! And not just any tortoise - the creature’s shell has been carefully labeled with the name "Mr. Smith", so he must belong to somebody...somebody Jessie is determined to find, no matter how much she’d like to keep Mr. Smith for a friend.

Wemyss is an extremely skilled performer, and his style is well-suited to the light, good-natured humor in this entertaining audiobook. His voices, adopted for different characters, are a special highlight of this work, lending it great depth and ensuring that young listeners stay hooked right through to the end.
