He embarked on a three year residential program on Jñāna yoga (path of knowledge) in India as a young man. His path changed direction again when he left to study psychology rather than become a monk.

Brant drew on 4 years of wilderness therapy with groups of adolescents (8 days in the woods every fortnight) in the 2010s. She highlights Jung's idea of Death as a fulfillment Indigenous wisdom of human experience existing within greater cycles - the breath in and out, seasons and tides.
