Jackal is back on Mount Douglas, revisiting an old hiking route that has changed considerably since he last travelled it. With fallen trees, rerouted trails and Churchill Drive officially closed because of antenna work, he finds himself improvising a slightly different way up the mountain. There’s even a moment of heroic self-control as he manages not to burst into running before eventually taking to the road and making his way downhill. It’s a small Friday adventure, complete with a little rule-bending, route-finding and the familiar Jackal urge to keep moving.
