106 Cars. Two Judges. One Car Shaped Like a Foot.
In the ‘Murica 454 Episode; Mental finds a large piece of pipe 4 ft down in concrete, Tim is sticky and doesn't know why, Chrissy’s car should yell at deer in the road meanwhile
Chris is trying to figure out why the rear caliper is leaking while nothing is happening. Really Mental and Tim tell us everything that happened at the Buttonwillow race two weeks ago. Here’s a hint- it was face of the sun hot!
A team of rookies showed up at Buttonwillow with an Acura Integra that they had turned into a giant human foot. Veins painted on it. An ankle. Somebody may or may not have drawn a Camel cigarette logo on one of the toenails. We put it in C class and we did not care what was under it.
Episode 454 is the Buttonwillow hangover: our full 24 Hours of Lemons recap from The Butt, two weeks on, now that everyone can form sentences again. 106 cars, 105 degrees, and a judging staff that started as four people and ended up as what Mental generously called a judge and a half.
The driving was bad. Really bad. Bad enough that they ran out of punishments by Saturday afternoon and started recycling them. Bad enough that Tom Webb called a mandatory Sunday morning driver's meeting, and made everyone meet at the one place on the property they'd been failing to use correctly all weekend.
It didn't help.
The people, though, were tremendous. They always are.

WHAT HAPPENED AT THE BUTT
Wrong-hole-itis: teams entering and exiting the track through whatever gap they liked
Four separate teams, many of them engineers, defeated by one children's jigsaw puzzle
A rookie team raising money for a dog rescue who spent a 100-degree weekend in full black ninja costumes selling fresh fruit cups. Sorry for Party felt, well, sorry and eventually gave them an EZ-up out of pity.
Tim's cool shirt failed three different ways in one stint: iced with no water, then a fitting that blew off and hosed him down, then a box nobody strapped in
The LA firefighters put on full turnout gear in 105 degrees to do a demo, then cut a car apart with the jaws of life
Sunday morning: a car shaped like a foot parked next to a car shaped like a wiener, as a visual aid
AWARDS
Dual Heroic Fix: a rookie Mini team who discovered the previous owner installed the clutch backwards, fixed it off YouTube overnight — and 30 college kids who blew up their Accord and got it back on the track Sunday to cheers
I Got Screwed: a cone kicked up by another car shattered a windshield in the driver's line of sight while they were leading C
Organizer's Choice: the foot. The judging notes read, in full, "it's a foot."
IOE: a bone stock Iron Duke S10 that had a transmission driven in from Los Angeles overnight
