Religions beginnings were never about truth but recognising fear of the unknown and the inability for humans to conceive death and nothingness.
When a parent is angry a child may feel they have done something wrong. When early humans didn’t understand droughts, floods, earthquakes or diseases they assumed a powerful being in the clouds or on top of a mountain or in the forest was punishing them for a misdoing. That is how they made sense of chaos. People would try anything to stop the suffering by pleasing the forces behind it and that’s when religion stepped in. It put a stop to questioning, offered a framework and a protector for a price; so instead of chaos the people got a system.
