Welcome to One Single Story, where each weekday we share a brief Bible lesson from the day's One Year Bible reading. Pastor Stephen Mizell, Pastor Jay Rivenbark, and Pastor Sheryl Daughety explore Psalm 84 and what it means to long for the presence of the Lord. Grab your Bible, a pen, and some paper, and join the conversation.

Scripture Focus: Psalm 84:1-12 - A psalm of the sons of Korah, written by temple doorkeepers who loved the dwelling place of God. It moves from longing for God's courts to a pilgrimage through the valley of weeping, and ends with the promise that the Lord is a sun and shield.

In This Episode:

• Why Psalm 84:10 is often misread as a statement of humility, when the sons of Korah were taking pride in the work God assigned them
• How to cultivate a deep appetite for God's presence: practicing it, knowing the person of God, and making it a priority
• Where each host most often meets with God, from the waterfront and the woods to a quiet recliner, and the difference between personal and corporate worship
• How fasting from spiritual "junk food" can restore your taste for the things of God
• How seasons of grief and trial can become wells of grace that refresh other people, with 2 Corinthians 1 as a guide
• What it means that God is both a sun and a shield, and why trusting Him can quiet envy, comparison, and discontentment
• Why unanswered prayers can be a blessing, and how God sees what we cannot

Key Quote: "The things we've been through become wells of grace for people."
