become my escape. Mental illness clouded every decision I made. The wounds of childhood trauma followed me everywhere, whispering lies about who I was and convincing me that
freedom was something other people found—not me.
For twenty-eight years I lived in a cycle I couldn't break. I tried to outrun my past, numb my pain, and convince myself that tomorrow would somehow be different. But tomorrow always looked a lot like yesterday.
There were moments when I wondered if this was simply the life I had been given. That perhaps brokenness was my identity. That healing was for other people. Hope felt like a distant memory.
But what I couldn't see then was that even in my darkest moments, God hadn't abandoned me. While I was struggling to survive, He was preparing a path I couldn't yet imagine. Piece by piece, He began replacing despair with hope, shame with grace, and fear with purpose.
This isn't a story about having all the answers. It's about discovering that even the deepest chains can be broken. It's about learning that our past doesn't have to dictate our future. And it's about finding the courage to believe that restoration is possible, even when everything inside you says it isn't.
