Ich kannte mich noch immer nicht besonders gut aus in Wien, als ich mich an einem Donnerstagmorgen im März 1964 auf den Weg zur Arbeit machte. Erst drei Wochen davor war ich aus Bad Ischl in die Bundeshauptstadt übersiedelt, weil mir im Hotel Intercontinental ein Job als Einkaufsleiter angeboten worden war. Zum Glück wies mir die eindrucksvolle Klotzigkeit des neu erbauten Nobelhotels schon aus mehreren Kilometern Entfernung bestechend sicher den Weg.
