Publisher's Summary

Billy Kelly's This Is a Family Show! is a stand-up comedy experience (with music) that parents and kids can enjoy together. From jokes about nocturnal animals and microwaves to Ben Franklin and people throwing turtles, the whole family will laugh along while listening to this comedian’s unique perspectives. It’s comedy toast with the crust cut off. Who needs all that crusty talk about dating, politics, and money, anyway?

Over the first two decades of his career, Grammy-nominated family entertainer Billy Kelly has opened for President Barack Obama, duetted with Davy Jones of The Monkees, and released a critically acclaimed family-friendly, stand-up comedy album - in that order. Billy loves making people laugh and doesn’t see why kids can’t be in on the fun.

“An endearingly oddball sense of humor.” (National Public Radio)

“Stand-up that some have found offensively clean.” (The New York Times)

Definite must-hear!

Totally love this show! Billy Kelly is super passionate about bringing laughs to people of all ages. Now you and your family have a chance to be in on the fun, don't miss out! I may be a little partial because he's my husband, but I've been listening to his jokes for 30 years and he still makes me laugh!

Hilarious!

Billy Kelly, where have you been all my life? I love this style of comedy--quick, punchy, clean, clever. It's awesome to hear kids and adults laughing together in the room, and the songs are way too catchy. I will never look at pumpernickel bread the same way, and I definitely moved my tissue box. Fantastic show! I hope to see him live someday!

Mediocre comedy, family friendly

He spent more time talking about how excited he was about being on Audible than actually telling good jokes. There were a few, but the first half was a little painful. Billy I appreciate what you are trying to do but gotta be honest.

Kids liked it

It was cute and my kids liked it. I put this on in the car while I was running errands with my kids. My 6, 9, and 10 year olds loved it and giggled the whole way through. Now they are walking around singing the songs.

Pass

At the beginning there were a few times that I chuckled and I thought: this could be alright -- not great but alright. Then it slowly shifted from generic but kind of funny to generic and can't keep my interest at all. Sorry, his stand up is just not doing it for me.

Delightful!

This was a treat! The songs are catchy and original, and the jokes range from pretty hilarious dad jokes to cerebral word play. Highly recommend!

Cute and funny!

This definitely made me chuckle! I appreciate clean, innocent humor, “Dad jokes”, and overall silliness, and this definitely hit all of those on the nose.
Got it as one of my free monthly Audible Originals and it made me smile 😊

Sparkly all-ages comedy set perfect for family road trip

Offbeat and genial comedian/songwriter Billy Kelly delivers a friendly live comedy set (plus extra bonus studio music tracks). Somewhere between Dmitri Martin and Ray Romano, Kelly embarks on something new: a stand-up comedy show for families. With warmth and wit he follows his own quirky bliss and, along the way, welcomes your kids to share in the world of observational comedy and wordplay, surely inspiring some schoolyard sets in the near future. Cheers to him for pushing family entertainment into an alternate medium. There are laughs here for all-ages and, with a 90-minute running time, it’s perfect for a shorter road trip and will have the whole car smiling.

~90 minutes I won't get back

I would say someone should inform the comic that a completely visual joke on a performance being recorded for audible doesn't work, but then neither did the ones you could hear. After suffering through 90 minutes of comedy open mic flashbacks, we were given a special treat: the exact same musical jokes again, this time with less audience and less editing skills. Seriously, the cuts in things he had noticed bits are reminiscent of what I managed with a handheld tape recorder when I was twelve. Even as a free performance it wasn't worth admission price.

Caters to family crowd

Billy Kelly is funny but he mostly caters to a younger crowd (elementary school age).
