Publisher's Summary

Introducing a heroine unlike any other....

FBI Agent Bernadette Saint Clare’s gift of second sight allows her to see things others can’t. But some things are better left unseen....

The FBI has never known quite what to do with Agent Bernadette Saint Clare. Shortly after she’s placed at a desk in the basement of the off-site St. Paul office, bodies begin to appear along the sandy banks of the Mississippi. Soon she’s called on to do what she does best: use the personal effects found at a crime scene to see through a killer’s eyes. The agent in charge of this case, Tony Garcia, is unsure if he should follow her lead, and the tension between them makes for an uneasy alliance.

Complicating matters still further, Bernadette becomes involved with her new neighbor. An absorbing novel filled with quirky characters on the right and wrong sides of the law, Blind Spot reminds us that life is filled with leaps of faith both great and small.

Maybe getting there?

The writing is very uneven. Vast stretches are just plain dumb, yet there are moments that are fresh and sometimes genuinely funny. Christian religion is central throughout the story, so you might skip this one if that's bothersome for you. On balance, I liked this one enough to be willing to look at more from this author.

Good reader, better than most.

Uneven and Disapointing

I chose this particular book because of the unique storyline of the FBI psychic. This selection did indeed have it's moments. Unfortunately it was a rollercoaster ride to nowhere. Moving between bursts of creativity and the worst of Hollywood screen writing. One minute the main character Bernadette's in control ; the next, she's hysterical. She waits forever to use her firearm while her boss is a hostage of a serial killer because it's "not her style." She had mindlessly put him in danger in the first place by acting on a ridiculous whim. At one point she watches the mentally disturbed killer display a lack of a logical thought process; she doesn't understand why a madman might be acting illogically. At times I found myself wanting to scream at the speakers to pass on a simple command that will save her from her own lack of cognition. The climatic scene moves ponderously for an hour and a half. By the end I no longer cared what happened. Passing up on this selection will save you a great deal of frustration.
