Publisher's Summary

Jane Tennison must navigate the salacious world of theatre to solve a brutal murder in the heart of London's West End, in the brilliant new thriller from the Queen of Crime Drama, Lynda La Plante.

Things can't get much worse for Detective Jane Tennison. Unceremoniously kicked off the adrenaline-fuelled Flying Squad, she now plies her trade in Gerald Road, a small and sleepy police station in the heart of London's affluent Knightsbridge.

With only petty crime to sink her teeth into, Tennison can feel her career slowly flatlining. That is until the discovery of the most brutal murder Jane has ever seen: Charlie Foxley has been found viciously beaten to death with a cricket bat - his body dismembered and disembowelled.

As a big-time theatrical agent, Foxley had a lot of powerful friends - but just as many enemies. And alongside her old friend DS Spencer Gibbs, Tennison must journey into the salacious world of show business to find out which one is the killer, before they strike again.

Blunt force

This has far far too much bad language in it for my taste it would be wise to remember that not all readers enjoy today’s modern cursing and in particular the f word every other word ... there are alternatives also I would think there a some crooked who are not potty mouthed that aside it would have been a good book

Not Prime La Plante

So very glad that this was not the first in the series because I may very well have stopped at several points.
If this is going to be your first look at young Tennison, please don't there are three other books in the series far superior.
This felt like La Plante By Numbers. Was a book due and this is what hit sent in?
She can, & indeed does, do far better than this.

FH

Really good listen with some comical characters. Another glimpse into how far females in the police force have progressed and how frustrating it must have been

Not as gripping

This is apparently Tennison book 5. Why not say that upfront. It was good but not perfect. Frankly perfection would be to know the exact Tennison timeline and listen in that order.

What a disappointment.

I had to force myself to listen all the way to the end.
Dull, preposterous storyline, unbelievable characters.
Twist in the end did not make it worth the wait.
This is the first Lynda La Plante I’ve read unfortunately.

Another great book by Lynda

Another great episode of the Jane Tennyson series. As always, well written and interesting twists in the plot.
Gripping to listen to - only downside was that audible kept skipping - not sure if it's an editing or download problem - would recommend.
