Story
Sleep is one of the most important aspects of our life, health and longevity and yet it is increasingly neglected in 21st century society, with devastating consequences: every major disease in the developed world - Alzheimer's, cancer, obesity, diabetes - has very strong causal links to deficient sleep. Until very recently, science had no answer to the question of why we sleep, or what good it served, or why its absence is so damaging to our health. Compared to the other basic drives in life - eating, drinking and reproducing - the purpose of sleep remained elusive.

Story
Our attention has never been as overwhelmed or in demand as it is today; we've never been so busy while accomplishing so little, and we've grown uncomfortable with boredom and a lack of stimulation and distraction. In Hyperfocus, Chris Bailey - described by TED.com as 'the most productive man you could ever hope to meet' - provides profound insights into how we can best manage our attention. He reveals how the brain switches between two mental modes - hyperfocus, our deep concentration mode, and scatterfocus, our creative, reflective mode - and how the surest path to being our most creative and efficient selves at work is to combine them both.

Go behind the scenes with Rannvijay Singh Singha
Publisher's Summary
After leading a sheltered life for 16 years, Pessi, Bertie, Randy and Maachh are thrust into the world of the National Defence Academy. Soon they realize that life here is not just about spit and polish but six terms of adventure and achievement. It is about soaring ambition and tough challenges, a punishing regimen and endless Puttie Parades.
However, rugged training and severe ragging cannot keep their spirits down for long. Weaving yarns about imaginary girlfriends, bragging about their escapades and sexual exploits, they turn from greenhorns to tough soldiers. United by their experience, these comrades-in-arms form a bond for life.
Tanushree Podder, in this tongue-in-cheek saga of youth, camaraderie and 'growing up', skillfully reconstructs life at NDA - where boys become men of honour.

Smooth Read
Very easy and smooth book. Enjoyed. It's a good timepass. It shows the life of the trainees inside THE NDA. By and large, the reader is able to maintain a distance from the book as if he is a witness. But the final section where the book glides towards its end, emotions successfully creep in. One surely becomes emotional at the bidding adieu. Thankfully there were no surprises. Written by a lady author, would have loved a lady narrator though the gentleman also did a good job.

A brilliant but a simple narration
Loved it. Narration and storyline is so simple that you end up identifying yourself with it. Through the narration of various episodes in lives of cadets, you end up remembering your own life and times you spent with your friends. Brings a gentle smile while you listen. No too many highs or lows, simply flows through. A well modulated voice too. Like one of those Hrishikesh Mukherjee movies.... simple but absolute must watch. Just a small irritant though. At times some dialogues flow in Hindi as it suits the story. however, immediately after, it's translated in English and repeated. not necessary and disturbs the flow. But a way too small irritation to be bothered about. A must listen.
