Publisher's Summary
A young man finds himself trapped in a nightmarish realm beyond belief in the second installment of this action-packed LitRPG/gamelit series.
Lukas Aguilar used to think he knew everything. Mainly because he believed only what he could prove for himself. No gods, fate, or any such nonsense for him. But that seems like a lifetime ago. Because when an earthquake destroyed his earthly home, he suddenly found himself in a dark dungeon world where gods and monsters are all too real—and supreme goddess Inanna had taken up residence in his mind.
Upon learning the rules of his new existence—levels, skills, abilities—Lukas fought his way from victory to victory. That is, until he came up against an anomaly that got him killed (at least for a month or so). When he finally reawakes, Inanna is gone, and his own powers have increased exponentially. But that victory comes at a cost.
Now Lukas finds himself in a borderland, beyond the reach of the Asukan Gods and rife with ever more lethal paths. They may lead him to Inanna . . . or to his ultimate demise . . . or to ancient secrets that could shatter the very foundation of this world. The only thing that's certain is any path he chooses will result in a whole lot of death and destruction.

A great continuation
The characters are excellently written, each with their own personalities, desires, and goals. The plot progresses at a steady pace and each chapter furthers it in some significant way.
The POV switches between two main characters, and far less than the first book, which is a very good thing, and mostly stays focussed on our protagonist, Lukas. This does not detract from the story, however, and they are usually done in places where it makes sense, so those who prefer to stick to only one character shouldn't need to shy away from it.
The ending sets up the base for the sequel, which promises to be exciting. Well done to the authors! They have a good thing going here. Looking forward to more.

Excellent Sequel with Expansive World building
A good sequel to the first book in the series.
PROS:
Characters:
The characters get fleshed out quite well and behave like people with their own goals and motivations driving them. A point most LitRPG writers tend to miss in favor of a quick progression system.
Worldbuilding:
You start getting a look into the larger world of STF, with several factions and how they tend to interact with each other on a socio-political basis.
LitRPG System:
The System continues to maintain a pesudo-game progression system without getting into the points nonsense that the majority of LitRPG tends to prefer. This is one point I definitely like and wish to see more of.
NARRATION:
Eric Jason Martin does an extraordinary job of bringing the characters to life through his vocie. He does such a good job that you won't even realize you are immersed in the world as long as the title is playing. Definitely worth your time
CONS:
Pacing:
Don't get me wrong. The plot gives sufficient drive for our characters to keep moving and engage with the world. But there are times when it can feel like it is taking its damn sweet time to move. Still, a minor issue with an otherwise good book
My only gripe at the moment would be that the character dialogue flow could definitely get better and the pace could pick up in a few places

Probably one of the best I've ever read!
This is probably one of the top stories on RR as far as writing quality goes.
Borderland picks off exactly where Godsfall ends, and Lukas's growth, as a character, as a person, as an anomaly, are all quite vivid. We get to see a lot more into the enigmatic Tanya. Unlike Book 1, Lukas is actually choosing his own fights, and giving the world a taste of what it means to have the shorter end of the stick. The battle scenes are far more epic, and the conclusion will leave you wanting for more. I won't say any more, because: spoilers.
TLDR; I wholeheartedly recommend you read this story. It is well written, keeps you at the edge of your sit at all times, and always makes you want to learn more of what's coming next, so stop dilly dallying and start reading this gem of a story you won't regret it!
