Publisher's Summary
After the events of Shadow Hunt (and the short story "Nativity," found in Companion Pieces), Los Angeles null Scarlett Bernard finds herself more out of her depth than ever before.
Cleaning up crime scenes and juggling supernatural politics is hard enough, but now Scarlett must face changes to every part of her personal and professional lives. What happens when the world's most powerful null goes on parental leave?
And what will the Old World have waiting for her when she comes back?
This novel-length story is structured as diary entries, recorded by Scarlett as she faces her most terrifying trial yet: motherhood.

Not a great installment to this series...
I have really liked both this and the boundary magic series until now. The format of this book is ridiculous and why is there so much focus on breast feeding?? It's totally off putting. The story is also extremely weak and I really don't feel as though the author really wanted to write this book. If there is another book in this story line written in this fashion I will most likely be skipping it.
The only reason I made it all the way through is that as always Amy McFadden did an excellent job with the narration.

Don’t like format
The book was OK but I really did not care for the journal format. It was disjointed

A bit of a let down
There was a great build up. Enjoyed the story but then it wasn’t really an ending but a summary of who did it so I love Melissa Olson’s books but this was a bit disappointing feels unfinished

Scarlett, Annie & Jesse
Another fantastic book by M. Olson. She is by far one of my favorite authors. Amy McFadden does a great job with narration as always.
Definitely worth the credit.
my only complaint is this story wrapped up so abruptly, it felt like another chapter or 2 was missing.
Regardless I am looking forward to her next book!

Entertaining
Interesting story with a mystery to solve. Annie will likely turn into an incredible paranormal though give Scarlet and team a few heart attacks along the way. The narrator did a good job with providing unique voices for each character and appropriate tone inflections for each scene.

Yet another fun session with Scarlett.
I have flown through this series and not only do I positively adore Melissa's style of writing, but Amy McFadden has hands down become one of my favorite narrators. Her reading and Olson's writing mesh so wonderfully together!

iii LOVED it!!!
I'm so happy i saved this book for a rainy day, and it has legit been raining for daaays. it's been a couple months since i re-listened to all the Lex and Scarlett books, and at the time, i needed a bit of a change. so i saved it and hearing it now, i remembered how much i love Scarlett and Everyone and what an amazing job Amy McFadden does at bringing them all to great life!
i only wish for more more more! I will never get enough of the Old World, or of everyone in it!
if you're reading this Ms Olson, plzplzplz do us all a favour and give us more Scarlett Bernard! Cruz? um, Yes!!!

Strange
I really struggled with this book , to be honest had I not purchased the audio book I would have given it a miss a bit like the last episode of lost ?
really enjoyed all the other books both about Scarlett and Lex but this one was about babies and breast feeding a bit of a let down.
