Brida

This was a simple book, easy to listen to and follow along. It is in the same category as The Alchemist, in terms of content, so if you liked The Alchemist, you'll probably appreciate this book. I would recommend for fans of this author.

Very disappointing

I've been interested in this author's books in the past but this is the first one I've read. It may well be the last. I had to force myself to follow through to the end just to give it a fair shake ...but it never redeemed itself. First of all, the story sounded interesting, but, I'm sorry....where did these "witches" crop up who go on endlessly about God and the gospel of St. Paul(not a huge fan of women, by the way)and mention the Virgin Mary in all their invocations? And all the "soul mate" drivel?....gack...
Also, I think a narrator can make or break an audiobook and this one was not a good match for the story. Her style was alright for "What the Dead Know" but in this case someone who could actually do a nice Irish accent and imbue the characters with a little depth and warmth would have helped alot. Her monotone style didn't help an already...well I just don't have any words to properly describe what kind of novel it was, but the reading definitely didn't improve things.

Summary: find a soulmate to pursue your magic

The book feels designed specifically for the main character to find a soulmate and the rest is dressing on top of that. I cannot get past chapter 3.

Amazing mysteries mind blowing novel!

The best novel I have ever read!

For the best understanding of this book I recommend one must first read Journey of Souls and Destiny of Souls, prior to this book.

I love this book so much.

I’ve read the paperback and listened to the Audible version on two long trans-Pacific flights, and basically anytime I need to relax and kill time. Some books just speak to you, and this is one of those for me. It’s very symbolic and meaningful for my own life path.

Intoxicating

Brida is very well written and definitely draws you into the story. Your mind enters the realm in which the story originates, after spending time in Brida's world, I found myself feeling stunned and dazed, even a bit disoriented, when I had to stop the reading, to continue on with my life.
I am looking forward to reading additional books by Paulo Coelho.

I wish this recording was endless!!

I feel quite sad that the story has come to an end, but I'll definitely be listening to it again and again. Beautiful voice and a beautiful story.

Excellent read!

I loved this book and found myself randomly stopping the narration to contemplate the ideologies and spiritual concepts presented therein. This is a lovely story that encourages us to view the world with a different set of eyes and openness to the less obvious aspects of our existence in the universe. If you are a Paulo Coelho fan, you don't want to miss this one.

Everything I needed to know

This book came at the most perfect moment of my life... Paulo is a very wise man, and his writings hit points of life people seem very confused about.

This is lead me to understand something very fundamental about life.

Highly recommend

Not for me

I did not enjoy this book in fact I had a hard time finishing it. The characters left me cold and the story line was ragged. I felt the author was trying to combine a philosophy with a novel and neither clearly presented, It just never worked for me.
