What's mine, I keep, and that includes Keira Kilgore. It's no longer enough to have her in my debt. No longer enough to own her body. I want something more. He's arrogant. She's self-righteous. I hate him. I want her. I've been turning him down for two years straight. Every shutdown makes me work harder. I'm not a one-night stand kind of girl. Story
It was just a typical Monday. Until the big boss asked me to make the pitch for a prospective new client. After two years on shaky ground at work because of my screw up, an opportunity to impress the senior partners was just what I needed. Or so I thought, until I walked into the conference room and collided with the man I was supposed to pitch to. My coffee spilled, my files tumbled to the ground, and I almost lost my balance. And that was the good part of my day. Because the gorgeous man who crouched down and looked at me like he wanted to eat me alive was none other than my ex.

Story
I'm the guy you love to hate. In every story in my life, I seem to end up playing the villain - and I've got the scars to prove it. That role works fine for me, because I'm sure as hell not anyone's hero. I run my life and my empire with an iron fist - until she knocks my tightly controlled world off its axis. She's nobody's damsel in distress, but I can't help but want to save her anyway. I guess we're about to find out if there's a hero buried...beneath these scars.

Chosen from birth to usher in a new era, Poppy’s life has never been her own. The life of the Maiden is solitary. Never to be touched. Never to be looked upon. Never to be spoken to. Publisher's Summary
A sexy new stand-alone from USA Today best-seller Sarina Bowen
You'd think a billion dollars, a professional hockey team and a six-bedroom mansion on the Promenade would satisfy a guy. You'd be wrong.
For seven years Rebecca has brightened my office with her wit and her smile. She manages both my hockey team and my sanity. I don't know when I started waking in the night, craving her. All I know is that one whiff of her perfume ruins my concentration. And her laugh makes me hard.
When Rebecca gets hurt, I step in to help. It's what friends do. But what friends don't do is rip off each others' clothes for a single, wild night together.
Now she's avoiding me. She says we're too different, and it can never happen again. So why can't we keep our hands off each other?

it was an okay experience
I loved this book previously since I have read it multiple times and hence gave its audiobook a listen, never again though. The male lead was not pleasant, I liked the female voice though and the fairytale narrator. But seriously, after the preview I expected more. It turns out voices in my head were wayyyyy more interesting than its audiobook version. so ' I am not heading more towards audioville' kinda person! It even became a drag to finish it. The story was great and I can't stress this enough , the only thing which kept me listening and finish it.

Engaging.
I enjoyed this engaging romance. Nate is truly an awkward nerdy goofy type that’s made it big in the tech world. He is loveable and caring and imprisoned by what he sees as doing the right thing by people, for example, he will go out of his way to ensure he is not inappropriate or sexist in the workplace he has created. He is strong and loving and willing to make sacrifices so that his people – friends and employees - are happy and looked after. So famous is he, he never gets to truly relax as he is hounded by media, fans and business associates. His assistant, Rebecca on the other hand, goes from having a life of anonymity and freedom to being imprisoned by injuries. And she is oblivious to Nate’s feelings for her, so when she first becomes aware, her reaction is realistic. I loved how their relationship stopped and started. And I loved how Nate found himself at a loss on occasion, not knowing where he stood in the relationship. So NORMAL. He was real and endearing. Nate and Rebecca’s story warmed my heart as they finally found love together.
This is a stand-alone novel, and you don’t need to read others in the series, but it’s nice if you’ve read them, as the characters there appear here, and enrich the world of the Brooklyn Bruisers.
I enjoyed the narrators' performances - they enhanced the experience.

New Favorite GO TO Feel Good Book
This was an AMAZING love story, with a great foundation from previous stories, though it can totally be read alone.. but I recommend reading the entire series from beginning to this one. Multiple times. Nate’s my new favorite book boyfriend, and the narrator has the sexiest voice in history. It is perfect for this character with little idiosyncrasies that match Nates personality so well. Though he had narrated other stories, Webber’s voice will always be Nate to me. Rebecca is a delightful character, one with amazing heart and flaws I see in myself that make her completely relatable and LOVABLE!! You DO NOT WANT TO MISS THIS BOOK. You will feel joyous at the end and I promise you will thank yourself for the purchase!!! Perfection. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I really enjoyed this book! I loved that the drama wasn't so ridiculous that it was unbelievable. I also loved that the h wasn't whiny and dramatic. It was a good balanced story and the narrators were so good! I really liked the different narrators for each POV, it really helped bring the story together.
ETA: 9.19.18-After starting the series from the beginning, I have to say I love this book even more (changing my rating to a solid 5 stars)! I'm surprised at how, even though this story intertwines with a couple of the other books, it's still fresh! Usually, books that have a different character POV, but intertwine are BORING. Everything just seems to be repeated. This one was written so well, that the places where the story overlapped were still new and exciting to read about.

What a let down.
have been waiting for this book since we first met Nate and Rebecca in Rookie Move. Man am I ever disappointed. Rebecca did a 180 in this book. In all of the previous books Rebecca is strong, capable, fearless, and endearing. In this book she is whiny, unsure, annoying, and just a mess. The fact that she allowed her sister and her boyfriend to just steamroll her pissed me off.
I understand that she is your little sister however she is a mess and invites her estranged, on again off again boyfriend to live with you and yet you say nothing it's just confusing to me. In previous books Rebecca has always been the nurturer and the caring type however I never had a inclination that she was a pushover. I understand that she feels obligated to take care of everyone around her but there has to be a line drawn in the sand when it comes to spreading yourself too thin. She was so focused on keeping her job so that she can take care of her sister, her nephew, and her sister's boyfriend that she neglected her own health.
Rebecca kept justifying her sister's actions by saying that her sister is in school trying to get her AA so she can't clean the house and she cannot really work. I don't understand. I understand this is a book however normal people go to school, our parent, and work in order to survive on their own. I just feel as though she just became weak in this book. She was completely unsure about everything. About her relationship with Nate, her job, and about her self in general. This was actually really painful to read just because Rebecca became the timid insecure individual when previous books never hints of that.
I do understand that there's a difference when it comes to somebody's outside perspective of an individual versus that individuals feelings however it just seemed so completely out of left field. I don't think I can get past the fact that she was just not what I was expecting her to be in this book. I was expecting her to be this strong badass character who lets Nate know that I have always loved you and I want you to love me for me. Not this person who at every turn is yelling at Nate letting him know that she doesn't want him and then in the next breath jumping on him telling him nothing about her feelings. The entire Nate and Rebecca relationship did not fully resolved until Chapter 31. There's only 32 chapters in the entire book that is saying a lot.
I'm so sad about this book. If you read any of my previous reviews in The True North series and The Brooklyn Bruiser series you can tell that I've been waiting for this book for a very long time however this book I could have lived without.

Why did I wait so long to continue this series! I loved it before and I still love it now.
I love that even though Nate is this big shot he acts just like anyone else and he is still insecure if a girl he has been wanting will want him back. The fact that they are friends only adds to this story. I love friends to lovers, almost as much as I love second chance love stories.
It is books like these that make me want to binge the whole series again and again.
Also the narration was fantastic I want more please.

Perfect score!
I've now listened to this book twice, and love it even more the second time. Nate is a genius IQ nerd with awkward social skills. He is also a tech billionaire who owns a hockey team, the Brooklyn Bruisers. Becca is a smart, capable woman who has been his office manager for several years. The story opens when Becca suffers a head injury that quite literally throws her off balance. She has a crush on Nate, as he does on her, but each hesitates to make an overture due to the boss/employee conflict.
Becca had to leave college because of her father's death, but was hired by Nate just when he was starting his company. So she's seen his success first hand, witnesses his few, but crucial, failures, and through all of that he's just Nate to her, quirky and obsessive, but funny and caring too. She also has a sister living with her in her Brooklyn apartment, and the sister has just had a baby. The baby daddy, who is a good-hearted dope, lives there too. So living conditions are crowded and noisy. With her head trauma, Becca needs quiet and rest.
Her injury has left her feeling a bit desperate about money, since she's unable to work for several weeks. At this point, Nate steps into her personal life in a much more active way in order to help her through this health crisis.
Both of these characters are loving, sensitive, loyal people, who genuinely try be the best, most ethical people they can be. You can't help but admire them both, and the long friendship they share is truly lovely to witness. For those of us who have not read the rest of the series, as I have not, there are chapters here and there that fill you in on the backstory. These are beautifully read by Joe Hempel, and frame the story as a quasi fairy tale. I loved those chapters, and was frankly sorry there weren't more of them. Another delightful 'character' is Bingley, the AI 'butler' in Nate's home. I found Nate and Becca's interactions with him to be quite amusing.
Zachary Webber voices Nate, and he gives us yet another outstanding performance. He captures the intelligence, awkwardness, compassion, and the complete adoration Nate has for Becca in his portrayal of this character. If there are awards given for narration, somebody needs to nominate ZW, because he ROCKS. Every time!!
Virginia Rose portrays Becca, and her performance is also excellent. I heard the intelligence, the insecurity, the worries over her own health, and the growing love she feels for Nate in Ms. Rose's portrayal of Becca. I look forward to listening to more of her work.
As for the writing, it's just perfect. The story unfolds in a lovely, natural way: the editing and word choices are spot-on; the character development is realistic; and the world building is immersive. Sarina Bowen couldn't have done a better job of she tried. I was charmed and delighted by this lovely romance. The love scenes are hot but not overly graphic imo, which is generally true of Bowen's love stories in my experience of her work.
So, if you're looking for a pleasing romance with just enough angst to make it worthwhile, this one might be right up your alley. It's definitely worth a credit, imo, and I highly recommend it.

Sizzling - and yet a Boy standing before his Girl
A tech wizard - self made - and a Hockey team owner - awkward and brilliant - and an ordinary, smart girl - who needed a job and started with his company - a hole in the wall - and never thought she was worthy of the crush she had had. Sweet story - hopeful story - so glad we all got to experience this and the happiness of these two! Thanks Sarina - loved this and Pipe Dreams of late - as well as many more of your stories - looking forward to the next!

CAT TACOS!!
This is my first Sarina Bowen book and I adored it!!
Fun, quirky, and well rounded. I can't wait to back track to the former books in the series.
If you love hero's with a geeky sense of humor and just an all around good nature this book is definitely for you. Add in the good girl heroine who always puts everyone before them self and you have a recipe that will make for the biggest smiles!

loved this story.
I love this book. Emotionally funny and gripping with bits of funny laughter thrown in. The narrative is superb, love his sexy hesitant anxious voice paired with her troubled bottom lip biting scared and hopeful voice. Was a really great combination. I look forward to reading more of the Brooklyn Brousers.

Fabulous!
With a great storyline and excellent narrators, Brooklynaire has been a joy from start to finish. I am worried for Juliet, even though she was in the wrong!. Nate and Becca are perfect for each other and I loved every minute of their slow admission that they love each other. This audio, like the book, has been an absolute treat. 💖💖💖💖💖

This is my favourite of the Brooklyn Bruisers but in fairness, I have been waiting for Nate and Rebecca from book one. In fact, Sarina Bowen has been quite clever building the crescendo to the release of their book.
It delivered completely on an interesting story, characters that were even better close up and chemistry that lit a raging fire. The gentle build between these two and their friendship of nearly a decade made for delicious listening.
The narration worked superbly and I haven’t got one complaint about what the narrators brought to the story and characters. Highly recommmended.

narrators were so good
Brooklynaire was a great story to read/listen to. Started off reading, switched to the Audible version not far in, and listened to the rest. Wow, the male narrator had an amazing voice and was so smooth to listen to. First Audible I've listened to with him narrating, now I'm going to hunt down some more.
Loved Becca and Nate - lots of chemistry and banter throughout. It wasn't all smooth sailing to get to their HEA, but it was fun going along for the ride.
