I'm torn over this review.

So this story is cool. I liked it a lot. I like Lex, I enjoyed the characters and I love the world that has been built.

I hate the audiobook narrator. He's actually awful. There are so many mistakes. So many odd pauses. So many awkward phrasing of simple sentences. And his droning voice does nothing to impart the high stakes in a lot of the story.

I'm loathe to buy any more in the series, which sucks because I really want to know where it goes.

Kept Me Guessing and Intrigued

The story starts out a little flat and it's hard to like the immature and often stupid main character. That doesn't last long and the story develops fully and takes surprising twists. The main character is more than redeemed. There is a lot of action, humor and an upbeat ending. Five stars.

The mad scientist got me

I guess I’m a sucker for mad scientists enlivening a plot line. I found myself chuckling many times through this entertaining story.

Fantastic story...Lackluster voice actor

I love this series from Lallo! It has action, deep content clearly researched, comedy and tension. John Forbes manages to make it a slog however, stuttering over words, misreading lines in "voices" from wrong characters and generally is monotonous throughout - a real shame!
I wholeheartedly recommend this book and series if you can get a chance to read it! Listen to this version as a last resort but I hope that someone else gives this a reprisal!
