Story
The kingdom of Cornucopia was once the happiest in the world. It had plenty of gold, a king with the finest moustache you could possibly imagine, and butchers, bakers, and cheesemongers whose exquisite foods made a person dance with delight when they ate them. Everything was perfect - except for the misty Marshlands to the north, which, according to legend, were home to the monstrous Ickabog. Anyone sensible knew that the Ickabog was just a myth to scare children into behaving. But the funny thing about myths is that sometimes they take on a life of their own.

My daughter was engaged in Matilda's story in which it has so many peculiar plots! The characters are so vivid especially the red-neck giant Miss Trunchbull! Thanks to the precocious Matilda's formidable reading list, it gave my kid good motivation to keep reading, keep searching! For us, Matilda is definitely one of the great reading materials in 2018.

Children’s classic not to be missed
If you haven’t read Dahl then start here. One of his best works. A clever critique of society whilst being a wonderfully entertaining story.

Just as good as I remember!
Getting intouch with my inner child for my actual child. We listened to this on our car rides, Douglas Hodge was such a pleasure to listen to.

An extraordinary story
Roald Dahl made my childhood and it is a great pleasure visiting his books again with my children. This is one of the best though much shorter than I recalled.
