Publisher's Summary

Three years ago, a collision between a fast-moving freight train and a school bus full of kids led to devastation and grief on an unimaginable scale. But a fresh clue leads San Antonio police detective Amara Alvarez to the unlikely conclusion that one of the children may still be alive. If she's correct, everything law enforcement believes about the accident is a lie.

With time running out, Amara must convince others - and herself - that despite all evidence to the contrary, the boy lives. And she will do everything in her power to bring him home.

A fresh voice in suspense, Tom Threadgill will have you questioning everything as you fly through the audio of this enthralling story.

Surprisingly Good!!!!

Wow! I am already a fan of Tom Threadgill’s Jeremy Winter books. This book might even top those. I truly hope this will become a series as well ( and that he continues the Jeremy Winter series also).
The publisher’s summary gives more than enough information so I don’t want to go too much into the story. This has a unique plot that is impossible to guess at. Getting from one point to the next almost seems like an impossible task. Threadgill has written such a tightly woven story with believable characters and explanations that make the whole story very plausible. The ending is a little sad and that surprised me but it actually seemed fitting.
Alma Cuervo does an outstanding job narrating.
This book has my HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION.

Loved it

Straight forward writing, good twist and great story without any way over the top stuff that makes me roll my eyes. A few glitches in the narration but I really like Alma Cuervo voice. Entertaining, interesting and well written. Will definitely look for more from this author and narrator.

My new favorite author

Listen to all Threadwell's Audible books in one week. He proved he could handle another main character, a woman at that. He has constructed compelling, well rounded characters dealing with moral dilemmas and reasoning out investigations with realistic ability and determination. This author keeps the reader's attention without profanity or sexuality.

Great

I loved it it was great. I thought it was even better than the Jeremy Winter series and I didn't think that would happen. Thinking about even listening to it again

great read

No big twists but a good detective story. Characters were amiable and believable. Narration was well done.

Excellent!

This is my first experience with this author, and I’m glad I took the chance. This is a masterful novel, so well written, very engaging. And the narration could not have been better. I will be looking for more books by Mr. Threadgill. (And Alma Cuervo as a narrator!) As a side note, for those who care (like me), there is no foul language nor sex scenes. A first-rate, clean mystery novel.

Painful narrator

I wanted to like this story but the narrator was so so bad. It was pure torture to listen and distracted me from really knowing the story. I never quit a book and I quit this one. I suggest a hard pass on this one.
