🌻De Ja Vu ? I swear I’ve heard this before!🌻

🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻V from Kansas🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻 I can’t put my finger on the exact book or author but, I listened to this basic plot before. I swear, I’m not crazy, it’s almost exactly the same. This fact was a disappointment because I knew how things were going to progress. Is this a good book? It’s an Ok book with Ok characters and an Ok plot. I wasn’t really drawn into the story and I didn’t become emotionally involved but, I was somewhat entertained. This book doesn’t have a lot of graphic sex scenes, in fact there isn’t many sex scenes, at all. I was expecting a dark romance, but honestly, I really didn’t find it all that dark, either. It was just an average contemporary romance with outstanding narration. I have doubts that this will be a novel I will listen to again.

So darn good!

Yeah I got this base on Sebastian York reading it, but he was great, the story was great and I spent my whole day listening to it and telling my family to screw off so I could listen to it. I loved this one so much and it had me on the edge of my seat.

I didn't know I would love it this much

I enjoy a lot of audio books. Many are fun and enjoyable and with characters and narrators I like. Some books... some books pull me in from the first moment and never let me go. This is one of those books. This could have been a stereotypical 'bad guy with a good heart' kind of story. it wasn't. I really think the difference was that the Ava's (Harrison and Erickson) wrote and delivered such a great female character. Not just a pushover who saw a good looking man and threw all her inhibitions out the window. From the moment Ivy was taken, she was a fighter. She never backed down, to anyone, for any reason. She was always tough, always being her own person. At the same time, Sebastian York's narration was fantastic. Yes you got scenes in his business, but in writing the story more about the two of them you saw him as a person and not as a cliche. After finishing this, I just kind of want to sit and wallow in it all for awhile. It really had it all. I loved their banter and communication. Their meals together were genius. Ivy's distrust, loneliness, longing to be free. All very real. Totally worth your credits and to listen to over and over

not my cup of tea I was rather bored mindless

I was bored and disappointed this book took me days to listen to . Cyrus was supposed to be some money man for bad men but he couldn't even control his second who always seemed to question him about everything. Ivy was either crying or running around like a chicken with her head cut off. I like strong characters especially in mob like books. I felt no connection with the characters . The only parts I even like where the dog who wasn't even mentioned in the epilogue.

Be Prepared...to YAWN

I gave up on this book. The first half is about a girl that sits on a island by herself. Hours of her obsessing over food... The Hero, leaves her there and visits on occasion. The Hero's character was not developed at all - His reputation as a ruthless killer is worthless, because even those who "fear" him don't seem to respect him. Its like the author wanted us to believe that he was a self proclaimed bad-ass, but there was no evidence to back it up. The Main Female in this book is just tiresome. She has no resolve and everything she does is halfhearted and childish. Even her thoughts are not fully developed. I've given up on it with one hour of listening to go...Its just not worth it. I love the performance of the readers - they've done the best they can with what they were given..

Loved it

I was hesitant on this - as I can be based on some reviews ..... BUT I trusted Ava’s writing and dove in. I love this story. I listened to the audiobook and the narrators really brought the story alive. I actually finished the book on kindle because I was impatient, but went back and listened to the final bit of audio anyway. Ivy was strong and resilient. She is probably one of my favorite characters of all time. Experiencing the transformation of Cyrus was ❤️ everything. I will definitely revisit this book time and time again.

A Powerhouse Workout For Your Heart

I was totally consumed by this book. Cyrus and Ivy's romance was an enticing an captivating tale that grabbed my attention and did not let go. This book is filled with powerful contrasts. Cyrus is a true anti-hero that is as easy to hate as he is to love. There is no denying the darkness that lives within him and that surrounds him. Is he a good man? No. But Ivy brings a light into this darkness that enables the unexpected and unwanted potential to do good things. Ivy herself is another study in contrasts. She my find herself in a dire situation but she refused to be a damsel in distress. She was a character that was strong enough to go toe-to-toe with Cyrus and not blink. This romance is a slow burner but trust me it is so worth it. There are more than enough sparks, sizzle and epic clashes of will along the way to make sure you stay fully invested and engaged as this couple's feelings develop and their relationship evolves. Intense, suspenseful, dramatic and emotional, this book is quite simply a powerhouse workout for your heart. I adored it! This book offers dual narration and trust me when I say that their performance was simply stellar.

Great storytelling here!

Cyrus and Ivy inhabit different lives. Ivy's life is pretty simple, tending to flowers and helping take care of her mother. Cyrus is a very bad man who you don't want to cross EVER. They exist perfectly in their separate worlds, until a common denominator brings them together. And once Cyrus sees Ivy, he decides then and there that he wants her. Although Cyrus is obviously a dangerous man, Ivy sees good in him. Granted, the predicament she's in would say otherwise, but Ivy feels this pull toward Cyrus--and him to her--and it scares her. This was my first Ava Harrison book, and definitely won't be my last. Lots of action, and a tapestry woven into a love story that starts nowhere near being one. Sebastian York and Ava Erickson did a phenomenal job narrating this complex enemies-to-lovers story.

Brilliant!!

You wouldn’t like to get on the wrong side of Cyrus Reed - he'd kill you. The man is the devil. There is no light in his life, only dark. That is until he traps Ivy Aldridge into his world. She IS the light to his dark. Ivy is the total opposite of Cyrus. She's wary of him, but believes that underneath everything, Cyrus is a good man. Only time will tell. I held my breath throughout most of Corrupt Kingdom! It was simply magnificent! I was in total awe when I read this book, but listening to it took it to a whole different level for me! Sebastian York and Ava Erickson were PERFECT as Cyrus and Ivy - they absolutely nailed it! Ava Harrison has given us something truly outstanding. I was memorized from start to finish, and loved every single word.

What a MASTERPIECE!

Ava Harrison is now one of my one click author. I'm blown away on how beautifully this book was written even more so now that I listened to the audiobook. Sebastian York's narration of Cyrus Reed is perfection. I fell in love with Cyrus all over again listening to this audiobook. Ava Erickson narration of Ivy was sheer bliss, it is like sunshine on a cold winters day, a promise of spring time. I was totally immersed, lost into their crazy world. This is one of my best read/listen for 2020. A masterpiece from Ava Harrison, her best one yet. I hope to read Cyrus and Ivy in Ava's future book.

chapters and chapters of needless waffle, very disappointing read. the story itself was good but it became very frustrating, things don't really get going until chapter 32!

A really bad idea

I though the old fashioned plot. Part Beauty and the Beast, part Bluebeard's Castle, really didn't work. Such a waste of the reader's good work.

Fabulous!

One word. Amazing. Once again, Ava Harrison has taken me into her world and given my heart to a new hero. Cyrus. Cyrus takes Ivy in to protect her from being the payout for a poker game. Now stranded on his private island, she is scared and unhappy and will do what it takes to get home. But she does find there is a definite attraction to Cyrus, and it can’t be ignored. Harrison weaves a web of danger, family dysfunction, mistrust and passion. The characters evoke all the emotions, we love and hate Cyrus, we fear Boris and we want to help Ivy! Completely invested in the outcome, I could not stop listening. It’s a little darker than Harrison’s normal books, dealing compassionately with some relevant issues. It’s thrilling, gritty and romantic and one you do not want to miss. Sebastian York and Ava Erickson bring their voices to this story. The talented team are amazing storytellers, giving us the inflections that make us smile, cringe and love. They are perfectly cast and truly enhance this fantastic book.

A must listen

Ava Harrison never fails to write stories that keep me entertained from the first to the last page, and Corrupt Kingdom is no different. I was nervous when I heard it was going to be darker than her usual but in pure Ava fashion, she makes these characters strong and loveable and not too close to that edge. I’d consider it darker not dark. Cyrus Reed is the king of his domain, he works with the lowest of the low and isn’t afraid to get his hands dirty to get the job done. His biggest secret? He’s a sweetheart, I’m not joking, this man could kidnap me and keep me on a deserted island with him. I loved the balance that Ava created between the “real” Cyrus and the Cyrus that others see. If you like your heroes with a edginess to them, Cyrus is definitely your guy. Ivy Aldridge is the type of heroine I adore. She’s strong and feisty and doesn’t take things lying down. She’s my type of girl. I definitely added her to my book girlfriend list. As always, the book touches on some difficult subjects and they’re written with respect and understanding. Ava Erickson is an absolute wonder, she was Ivy to me, she’s who I heard in my mind when I was reading, and she absolutely nailed the character for me. Ivy’s chapters were a dream to listen to, I got so lost in the performance, that at times, I forgot I knew what was going to happen because Ava just elevated the tension and suspense levels to such a degree that I was just lost in the story. She was always on my favourite list, but now, girl crush list it is. And yes, Sebastian York fans are going to be happy with his performance too. He embodied Cyrus. His opening scene is delicious. Come on, it’s SebYo after all. Ava Harrison always makes the best casting decisions, and she’s didn’t miss a beat with this one. This story is one of her best and a must listen for sure.

Perfect book!

I loved this book. It was dark and dirty and full of intrigue and mystery. The characters had great chemistry and the alpha was so alpha that it made me swoon when he spoke. The narration was perfect. Sebastian and Ava killed it as Cyrus and Ivy.

Fantastic strong female, rushed at the end

Fantastic characters and great character development! Human trafficking is a dark subject matter but it was handled well. It was a bit rushed at the end but still a fantastic book! Finally a female character that isn’t pathetic and whiny!
