About this listen

Phoebe West has been head-over-heels in love with her brother's best friend for as long as she can remember. Not that he's bothered to notice. Despite several mortifying attempts at seduction and a decade's worth of unrequited pining, nothing Phoebe does seems to make any impact on the man she's obsessed over since her bra-stuffing days. She knows that it's time to let him go, though just the thought is nearly enough to shatter her.

Nathaniel "Nate" Knox has only ever seen Phoebe as one thing: forbidden. There's a darkness in Nate, the kind you can't avoid after years working in Special Forces and private security. He's no good for anyone, especially not someone as sweet as his best friend's little sister. He knows that he can't have her, even if she makes him feel things he barely recognizes.

Contains mature themes.

Phoebe – She gave me all the Phoebe Buffay vibes

Cross the Line by Julie Johnson is the second book in the Boston Love series, following Phoebe and Nate’s story.

I once read a review where the reader chose not to rate the book because they weren’t fully present while reading. And honestly? I’m going to do the same here. I don’t think I was fully present while listening to this audiobook, so it wouldn’t be fair to give it a rating.

That said, I did love the book! It had all the right tropes, the drama, and the perfect mix of action and romance.

✔️ The brother’s best friend trope – Always a favorite of mine, and the author executed it so well here.
✔️ The storyline – There was more action than romance, but surprisingly, it worked really well for this book.
✔️ Nathaniel Knox – 100% book boyfriend material. Enough said.
✔️ Phoebe – She gave me all the Phoebe Buffay vibes, and I mean that in the best way possible!

Great banter

Loved the heroine’s verbosity, her banter, and the sunshine/grumpy combination characters of the novel. Great job.

Narrator is really good

Book was alright, goes on obvious paths, but narration really made it interesting. Story is alright too.
Worth listening. Works best on 1.2 -1.5 speed.

Ok ok

Liked the first part a lot. Did not enjoy the story line much.
Some unreasonable plots, few people who didn’t make the appearance again in the story.

average

the story was good. but I feel exhuasted with so much monologue and unnecessarily talking by the character Pheobe. it did not sound witty or funny. the whole story was from one perspective. i prefer both
overall good story
but Chase and Gemma was a better executed one
