Choosing to pursue a career in journalism (rather than being a footballer) has paid off for Dan Walker. His first television presenting role was covering league football for ITV, and he continued his interest in football on BBC One's Football Focus. Walker has also been prolific in reporting across the BBC at events such as Wimbledon, Rugby 6 Nations and Royal Ascot. He has commentated on World Cups, played a major part in the coverage of the 2012 Olympics, and of course was on our screens for years on BBC Breakfast before moving to Channel 5 News.
Having previously released his book Remarkable People, Walker is following it up with Standing on the Shoulders, another collection full of inspiring people: the heroes that he doesn't want history to forget. We'll be talking to Dan Walker about the stories he tells, what inspires him, and how difficult it is to have a last minute toilet break on Strictly Come Dancing.
