Publisher's Summary
But even in this quiet, peaceful place, Nell never feels entirely at ease. Careful to conceal her true identity, she takes a job as a cook at the local bookstore café - and begins to explore her feelings for the island sheriff, Zack Todd.
But there is a part of herself she can never reveal to him - for she must continue to guard her secrets if she wants to keep the past at bay. One careless word, one misplaced confidence, and the new life she's so carefully created could shatter completely.
Just as Nell starts to wonder if she'll ever be able to break free of her fear, she realizes that the island suffers from a terrible curse - one that can only be broken by the descendants of the Three Sisters, the witches who settled the island back in 1692.
Now, with the help of two other strong, gifted women - and the nightmares of the past haunting her every step - she must find the power to save her home, her love...and herself.

Good Romance, Not So Good Narration
Unlike some of the other reviewers here, I was not impressed with the narrator. She reads well, but her character voices are honestly terrible. Of the three lead women in their 20s, one sounds like a little girl, another like an old lady, and the third has a nasally voice that borders on whiny. The love interest of the main character has a wooden tone with no inflection in it whatsoever, and the few other men in the book all have the exact same voice. Listen to the sample for a long time before you decide to buy this one. However, the book itself is a good romantic fantasy, and after awhile, the story was strong enough to overshadow the weak narration.

Sweet Romance with a Touch of Magic
STORY - Dance Upon the Air reminds me a lot of the Julia Roberts movie Sleeping with the Enemy. Not the same, of course, but there are a lot of similarities. It is a small town contemporary romance that has an undertone of danger and a dabbling in witchcraft. The romance is engaging, and the impending danger will keep you on your toes. Nell and Zack are strong, smart, likeable characters, and I enjoyed hearing their relationship progress. As always, Nora Roberts' sex scenes are tastefully described but still very passionate. I enjoyed this book a lot, but I've gotten very stingey with my 4's and 5's so I've just rated it a 3.
NARRATOR - Good job but nothing special. Zack's voice was a bit nasally, but way better than a lot of men's voices done by women (and vice versa).
OVERALL - I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good "clean" romance. If you are looking for lots of hot sex, you should probably skip this one.

Horrible Narrator
Don't really know if I could have enjoyed the story as I didn't get past the first 45 minutes. I just couldn't handle the narrator's voice anymore. I will never buy another book narrated by Sandra Burr.

Great story, Awful narration
This is one of my favorite series by NR and I was excited to listen to it for the first time on a long drive. The story is as good as I remember; unfortunately the narration was so bad that it was beyond being distracting and ruined the story for me. None of the character voices made sense for the characters being portrayed, the intonation was completely off, and I was not able to become immersed in the story at all. I had planned on purchasing the audio books for the other two novels in the series, but having barely made it through this one I looked up the narrator for the others... and it's Sandra Burr for all three. I will not be purchasing the other two. Really disappointing.

One of my all time favorite trilogies
Nora Roberts is my favorite author and Three Sisters Island is my favorite trilogy. The reader does a great job with the narrative and with Nell but she ruins the romance with Zachary with her creepy voice.

Lets stand together!
Nell makes you want to get out there and stand up for a cause - the book makes you want to move to a little island and find the solitude and friendlyness that might be waiting for you.
Having read this and the 2 others in the trilogy you feel as if becoming more in tune with nature and it's elements is something you really need to be doing - if only we could escape to this!
very well written and extremely well read! catches you from the word go!

Great fusion of the modern world and mythical.
The first book got me hooked! Entertaining with every chapter and at the end of it all, the audiobook doesn't leave you hanging on a cliff! But it did make me get the rest of the trilogy.
The reading was great too, loved the pace, fast when required other wise slow and calm. I enjoyed it hope you will too!

Good
I enjoyed the use of the magical & mystical, I found the narrator handled the characters very well. Liked the twist of drama. Very entertaining, enough so that I have bought the trilogy. Looking forward to the other 2 books.

Good book, but didn’t love the narrators voice.
Nora Roberts writes great books. I’ve probably read 10 or more book series of hers and This one didn’t disappoint. I’m new to audible so it was fun to just listen while being able to do other things. The reason I’m only giving 4 stars is because the narrators voice drove me a little crazy. I know it’s hard to do all of the voices in a book, but the main character voice she chose to do was very annoying.

Superb listen for those interested in pagan themes
This is the first in Nora Roberts Trilogy of the 'Three Sisters Island' series, and it a truly mesmerising story from book 1 right through to book 3. The storyline takes you through the main characters history up to the present time, from the darkest of their days to the best of them. It has a deeply pagan theme which followers of this lifestyle will recognise many of the spells written into the books and this must reflect the authors following or research into the old ways.
I would tend to lean towards the research side as most spells within the book end with the all too familiar line ' so mote it be ', which many followers of the wiccan path will know is never used in true spell casting. It is amazing how many people have picked this up from programmes like ' charmed ' and believe it is the right way to end a spell, but that is poetic licence for you.
The books must be heard as a series otherwise you will miss out on the continuing theme which ends in a superb climax at the end of book 3.
Very highly rated series, and if you enjoy this then you would enjoy many of the other 'trilogy' books from the same author.

Really Disappointed
I have to say I enjoy Nora Roberts books normally but Dance Upon Air, I found the narration a huge problem to get past. The main character Nell sounded like Marilyn Monroe on helium and the male characters had such a strange gutteral sound, I found it very difficult to feel anything for them.

Excellent book. I can’t wait to read the next one. Will have to wait until I get a credit as buying is too expensive.

Great Book! Really enjoyed listening to it!
When Nora Roberts writes books with a supernatural twist they are always brilliant and this book is no exception. I really enjoyed the plot and the characters were compelling and interesting.
I'm really looking forward to listening to the other 2 books in this series.

fantastic 🤩😍
This audio book makes me want to be a witch! I love the story. Which involves a strong main female lead, intent on getting away from love gone wrong. Prince charming was as is always a snake in disguise. She eventually comes to Three sister's island. A place birthed by witches. here she finds her elemental sisters, her place and her power to take on her snake and demons. she also finds her knight with a blue badge. he is drawn to her the moment he sees her and will go to any length to show her, he will be her lover. and that she is protected and he won't let any one hurt her ever again.

Powerful Starting Over Novel
A powerful story of Nell, a woman starting over from an abusive relationship. Learning how to make friends and trust in herself again. The magic aspect is used wonderfully as a catalyst, however the relationships developed between the women and male protagonist are beautifully written that their individual personalities make sense for the storyline and their own back stories, without taking away from the emotional struggles Nell copes with and conquers.

dislike narrator and rushed relationship/insta-lov
I feel like nora robert books always have older narrators or ones that make the men sound weird. I found it hard to picture the main guy and it spoilt it, it also made Mia sound old even though she's only 29.
the romance was very insta-love, there was no build up, the guy just sees her and then is all in, crossing her boundaries at first too. it feels a bit icky, like he ignored the matter of consent and getting to know her I favour of his need to touch her. he expects her to just get over her fear cos he's different.
the story was average. I don't mind predictable, but as not much drama happens in the first 2 thirds, it would have been ideal to build the romance. there's no suspense and little character building in anyone other than Nell.

Wrong choice of narrator
I really wanted to enjoy this, but the narrator just ruined it for me. The voice doesn’t fit the characters. She sounds so much older than the characters who are supposed to be in the late 20s. It’s terrible when she reads any love or romantic scenes. It’s like your grandma talking lol It’s a good easy story but I had straight away put them in their 40s from the voice and when they say they are 28 I just couldn’t imagine them.

Enjoyable
Straightforward romance storyline with a witchcraft component. I enjoyed it as a break from my usual reading preferences and will most likely buy the two other books in the trilogy to see how the long-term story turns out.

great story
love Nora Roberts stories. always a great read. first time listening to a book instead of reading it. was slightly unusual. I found it a little weird listening to a female trying to lower her voice to project a male voice, wasn't quite right but was very easy to listen to and very clear.
