Ronen is a Levite musician determined to return the ark to Shiloh, where his tribe believes it belongs. Story
A successful LA artist, Roman Velasco appears to have everything he could possibly want - money, women, fame. Only Grace Moore, his reluctant, newly hired personal assistant, knows how little he truly has. The demons of Roman's past seem to echo through the halls of his empty mansion and out across his breathtaking Topanga Canyon view. But Grace doesn't know how her boss secretly wrestles with those demons: by tagging buildings as the Bird, a notorious but unidentified graffiti artist - an alter ego that could destroy his career and land him in prison.
Publisher's Summary
A woman with a devastating secret. A man bent on proving his worth. A chance encounter that catapults them into the heart of history.
When the daughter of a prominent Roman general meets a disinherited Jewish immigrant, neither one can dream of God's plan to transform them into the most influential couple of the early church. Nor can they anticipate the mountains that will threaten to bury them. Their courtship unwittingly shadowed by murder and betrayal, Priscilla and Aquila slowly work to build a community of believers, while their lives grow increasingly complicated thanks to a shaggy dog, a mysterious runaway, and a ruthless foe desperate for love. But when they're banished from their home by a capricious emperor, they must join forces with an unusual rabbi named Paul and fight to turn treachery into redemption.
With impeccable research and vivid detail, Daughter of Rome is both an emotive love story and an immersive journey through first-century Rome and Corinth, reminding listeners once again why Debbie Macomber has said that "no one brings the Bible to life like Tessa Afshar."

Painful
The narration is so bad I have to wonder why the publisher keep choosing sub-par voice performers for this author. Not since "In the Fields of Grace" has Tessa Afshar been blessed by a good narrator for the audio versions of her books. But not even a great narrator could have saved this story. It hurts me to write this, but I didn't believe any of it was really happening. I knew everything that would happen before it happened, and yet the characters were so flat, so one-dimensional, I was never immersed in the experience anyway. There are some moments of good theology, but none of it sounds truly genuine for the times. The power of the Holy Spirit in the early church, the signs and wonders, are all watered down to simple synchronicity and serene platitudes. It is particularly painful to encounter Saint Paul as a cardboard character. Having listened to "Dear and Glorious Physician" by Taylor Caldwell (the story of Saint Luke) this visit to Rome and Corinth was like being in the Hallmark channel version of the ancient world. Superficially cliched, with a lot of tent stitching and everything wound up in a nice neat bow of justice and forgiveness at the end, which came as a relief, simply because it was the end of the book.

Love the story
I rarely worry much about the performance but this was hard to listen to. I found myself reciting sentences in my head with more appropriate emphases when I got frustrated with it.

I can’t...
This could have been a good story? I wanted it to be...too BORING! There was no “life” in the narrator. The story line was just ...meh. Booooo! I was so disappointed, because I really liked Tessa Ashfar’s : Thief Of Corinth and Bread Of Angels. :(

Life in Bible Times
Tessa Afshar has clearly done her research about life in the 1st Century. It is good to get glimpses how people in different spheres interacted (Roman, Christian, Jewish). Afshar creates a plausible back story for two New Testament figures and weaves them into the relevant Biblical contexts.

Daughter of Rome
I enjoyed this story of Priscilla and Aquila. Tessa Afshar’s books are always outstanding and so rich in Biblical history. I always learn so much about Biblical times from her books. Indirectly these stories always improve me as a person and enrich my Bible reading. Outstanding narrator performance.

Superb telling of their story!
If you are a believer and love the Word of God, you will love this telling of two people, who are briefly mentioned in the Bible. Their circumstances, mostly unknown, but woven in such a tale that one could imagine the life that could’ve been true to each detail. I would love to meet them in Heaven one day and find out what their stories were. I loved the voice of Ms. Witherspoon, and how she narrated.

Thank you Tessa Afshar for another Masterpiece!!!
Love! Love! Love!!!
A beautiful story! Thank Tessa Afshar for bringing Priscilla's story to life. It is an AMAZING one!
I read the reviews and was a bit unsure if I should go for this. I have and have read all your books. I knew when you brought this story to the public and was excited seeing it on audible.
Beautiful story but however, I understand the issue with graphic love scenes. I had to use earphones to listen to those parts as anyone listening might mistake it as an x-rated story. So, please, if this can be made moderate next time, we would appreciate it. We know what happens between couples. It is good to leave the rest to imagination.
Pilar Witherspoon!!!! WELL DONE!!! You brought this story to life! I laughed, cried, and could feel all the emotions the characters felt. You did an AMAZING job!
Thank you Audible for this as well. Thanks
