Publisher's Summary

Howard Zinn’s A People’s History of the United States has sold over 2.5 million copies and is still required reading in some high school and college classrooms. But its polemic rewriting of American history as a story of oppression is an agenda-driven fairy tale that has no place in academia. In Debunking Howard Zinn, Mary Grabar debunks Howard Zinn’s lies and traces the damage his mega-bestseller has done to American education, culture, and politics.

Fantastic takedown of Zinn

breakdown with sources, catching Zinn's plagiarism, half truths and outright lies. it's a shame this work has been adopted by educators so widely and used to shape a generation.

Explained several discrepancies

She explained all of the discrepancies that I thought about while enduring his book. I found his "letters" and others sources troubling

Powerful rebuke to SJW propaganda

Zinn’s book was intended for Americans to hate their country and history. This book really exposes Zinn for the Marxist propagandist he is .

Now I understand

My history education has been going on for many years as I read constantly and listen to books including biographies (original sources). When I watch the young generation talking about history it is not they do not know but a lot of what they know is not accurate. This audible book goes a long way of explaining the gap.

As we have just "celebrated" Columbus Day I have not understood the protest. As someone who has read some of the original documents although translated of the era the protest did not make sense. Columbus did not murder natives or condone it. This is the notion from the "Zinn history". Howard Zinn was not a historian so inaccuracies should be expected but the source of his information is even more interesting.

For those who have studied the Howard Zinn story of history you are probably not going to be able to handle what is in this book. Unlike what you had in school this is documented and both good and bad laid out.

For those who have children being indoctrinated in school and universities it may help understand what they are talking about when it comes to politics as that what his history is about - politics.

Zombie Soviet propaganda is eating America's brain.

Every student who was lied to by Zinn should read this important corrective. Our political divide seems mysterious to people who don't know the reach of Zinn's zombie Soviet propaganda. Once you know where the nonsense came from, the blame is clear.

Worthy Criticisms

Howard Zinn has been prolific for a while. Undergraduates everywhere will encounter him.

This text is an excellent aid in understanding the world of Howard Zinn. I for 1 appreciates this text a great deal.

At the same time, this reading is rather brief; if you are deeply invested in the Howard Zinn project, this reading might be a good place to start.

Thank goodness for this

Not sure why this wasn't published back in 1980 when Zinn's book was first released. It is a lot harder to change a person's mind when it has been manipulated in the way Zinn was able to manipulate children for the past couple of decades.

Good read!

Only Marxist readers are giving this a bad review.
Zinns book was truly a trojan horse thrust in the schools, libaries and homes of America.
It has given fuel to liberals as they fight against the American people who strive to defend our freedom and guard against socialist (aka democrats) proponents.

Well researched - but needs to gain a cool factor so more folks read it

It’s a great book - supported by strong research and clear arguments. I offer it should be our goal to find a path to make it ‘cooler’ somehow (yes I know how that sounds) so it is sought out and read. It is a sad thing and a foolish fact that Zinn’s concepts are being taught in K-12 schools without any other authors works and without debate. Many who follow Zinn do not see that their actions of accepting Zinn and preventing debate in schools as bad. While they may think of themselves as Socialist (good guys) they are in fact acting like the very Fascists they say they hate.

Review of Howard Zinn

A very good book which discusses the account of Howard Zinn's professional career. This book, based on the research conducted, clearly exposes Howard Zinn for the Marxist that he was and how he worked towards corrupting the minds of America's youth.

Good work

I was a bit skeptical that this woul be a right-wing propaganda work because Zinn and his followers were labeled as 'America-hating' in the introduction, but this is by no means a work of right-wing orthodoxy. The author defends the Democratic president Franklin Roosevelt against Howard Zinn's criticisms and wants no part of the campaign of Joseph McCarthy. But it also exposes a lot of the inaccuracies and mendacities in Zinn's work, which have become conventional wisdom for a lot of the intelligentsia.
