Der Hofmeister Läuffer tritt eine Stelle bei Major von Berg in Heidelbrunn an. Er soll dessen Sohn Leopold unterrichten, der aber kein Interesse am Lernen zeigt. Später kommt dann noch der Unterricht von Leopolds Schwester, dem 14jährigen Gustchen, dazu. Läuffer verliebt sich in Gustchen und zeugt ein Kind mit ihr. Doch Gustchen ist in Ihren Neffen Fritz verliebt, der in Halle studiert. Verzweifelt flieht Gustchen zu einer blinden Frau und bekommt dort das Kind. Nachdem Läuffer Gustchen nicht findet, wird er Lehrer in der Stadtschule und verliebt sich in Lise. Wird jetzt alles gut?

Bearbeitung und Regie: Walter Knaus. Jakob Michael Reinhold Lenz (17511792) war ein deutschbaltischer Schriftsteller des Sturm und Drang. Das Werk Der Hofmeister schrieb er im Jahr 1774.
