Aus "Sankt Martin" wird das "Lichterfest". Das Zigeunerschnitzel mutiert zum Schnitzel mit Sauce einer ethnischen Minderheit auf Reisen. Und Flüchtlinge brauchen keine Miete zahlen und bekommen sogar noch Taschengeld. Was für eine Welt! Der Koch Ludger hat jedenfalls gründlich die Schnauze voll davon, rund um die Uhr zu arbeiten und trotzdem nicht über die Runden zu kommen. Kurzentschlossen springt Ludger von einer Brücke, um das Drama zu beenden. Mit doppeltem Kieferbruch wacht er allerdings im Krankenhaus wieder auf.

"Warum stellt die Krankenschwester den Fernseher immer auf Al Jazeera? Warum bekomme ich Besuch von einer Mitarbeiterin der Ausländerbehörde?", denkt sich der mundtote Koch. Erst ganz langsam fällt der Groschen bei ihm: Sie halten ihn für einen Flüchtling und er lernt Deutschland ganz neu kennen...
