Story
My name is Chase Cooper, and I'm a 6th grade ninja. It's my first day at a different school and the only person I know is my cousin, Zoe (but she might be a little too cool for me). I was just another scrawny kid until a group of ninjas recruited me into their clan. It was a world of trouble I wasn't prepared for, which is why I kept this diary (or "chronicle" as my dad would call it) - to warn other kids about the dangers of becoming a ninja. They say history is destined to repeat itself...well, not if I can help it.

Story
Look, I didn't want to be a half-blood. I never asked to be the son of a Greek God. I was just a normal kid, going to school, playing basketball, skateboarding. The usual. Until I accidentally vaporized my maths teacher. That's when things started really going wrong. Now I spend my time fighting with swords, battling monsters with my friends, and generally trying to stay alive. This is the one where Zeus, God of the Sky, thinks I've stolen his lightning bolt - and making Zeus angry is a very bad idea.

This book is about the good stuff. The wonderful inventions we now cannot live without - from high heels to tea bags, pencils to X-rays, each story is an amazing mix of luck and a whole lot of perseverance and hard work. Imagine what our hot summers would be without ice-lolly? The horrors of never tasting potato chips! What would we do without our quick-fix Superglue? We hardly give a thought to the many little things we use every day. Don’t you think it’s time we learnt about a few stories of origin? Where do they come from? Who invented them and how?

Publisher's Summary
Brought to you by Puffin.
Book one of the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series - from number one international best-selling author Jeff Kinney, read by Dan Russell.
Greg Heffley finds himself thrust into a new year and a new school where undersize weaklings share the corridors with kids who are taller, meaner and already shaving.
Desperate to prove his new found maturity, which only going up a grade can bring, Greg is happy to have his not-quite-so-cool sidekick, Rowley, along for the ride. But when Rowley's star starts to rise, Greg tries to use his best friend's popularity to his own advantage. Recorded in his diary with comic pictures and his very own words, this test of Greg and Rowley's friendship unfolds with hilarious results.

Love the book. But plot could have been better
The book was great. Dan Russell narrated the book really well. And the great thing was that he would modulate his voice to imitate different characters. Unfortunately I did not like the story much. Especially (spoiler alert) the part when Greg is celebrating Christmas. That part did not make me feel good.other than that, the book is great! A must read for kids who like comedy or funny books/comics/diary.

The Cheese touch mania!!!!
This was the most amazing book I can remember reading since ( well I don't exactly remember when.)it's so much funnier than anything I can remember reading in a while. The bits with the teenagers who chased them on hallowe'en was like Argh !!RUN RUN RUUUUUUNN!!!!!!! The best thing about it was probably the bit where Greg through apples at peppermint patty and her glasses cracked and she couldn't see two feet in front of her LOL!!
