Die Zeit nach dem Ersten Weltkrieg, die mit Modernität und Avantgarde begann, mit Filmen von Chaplin, Gemälden von Grosz und Romanen von Döblin, entwickelt sich mehr und mehr zu einem Albtraum, in dem Verfolgung und Schikane den Alltag beherrschen.
