Der Heilsweg des Buddha ist ein Weg zur Weisheit und zur Erlösung des Einzelnen. Am Anfang der Lehre stand die Einsicht, dass die Welt in ihrer Vergänglichkeit ein Ort des Leidens sei. Die Lehrtätigkeit des Buddha erfolgte aus unendlichem Mitleid, um Wege aus dem Kreislauf des Leidens zu finden, in dem alle Lebewesen durch ihre Unwissenheit gefangen sind.
