The bestselling science fiction series of all time continues! Frank Herbert's second installment explores new developments on the desert planet Arrakis, with its intricate social order and its strange threatening environment. Dune Messiah picks up the story of the man known as Maud'dib, heir to a power unimaginable, bringing to fruition an ambition of unparalleled scale: the centuries-old scheme to create a superbeing who reigns not in the heavens but among men. But the question is: Do all paths of glory lead to the grave?

It somehow feels incomplete as a book and more like series of chapters and a whole load of political back and forth, just the right length but left me craving more. Let’s see where the series goes from here.

It’s good but leaves a gaping void

If 'Dune' is a dense book to begin with then its sequel, 'Dune Messiah' lives up to the standards of dense but rich storytelling.

'Dune Messiah' shows how the Known Universe, and Dune, has expanded and is flourishing under its new Emperor; the sequel is much more a narrative of the surrounding politics being quite detail-rich.

The narration lacks a certain charm in 'Dune Messiah' although that does not diminish the overall charm of the story itself.

Fitting continuation to the first book

the only significant part of the story is the last two chapters. otherwise there's a lot of fluff. performance of the narrators was good.

not as good as the original Dune
