Publisher's Summary

From a number one best-selling author: a fresh and funny romantic mystery series about a witty, down-to-earth heroine with a job you've never seen before....

Being an undercover poison taster for the rich and famous might sound glamorous, but for Isobel Avery it means stomaching bad clients and even worse coffee. The one side of the job that lives up to expectations is the money. Which is just as well for Izzy, since she needs an awful lot of it. Who knew when she made a lifelong commitment to a man that it would be one year living with him and the rest of her life paying for it?

But even her scoundrel ex-husband doesn't look so bad compared to her new client. He's competent, condescending, and annoyingly attractive, and Izzy doesn't know whether to sleep with him or poison him herself. Throw in a loan shark, a nosy neighbor, and a murder attempt, and Izzy will have her work cut out for her.

Perfect for fans of Camilla Chafer, Jana DeLeon, Janet Evanovich, Stephanie Bond, Julie Moffett, and JB Lynn.

I love this series!

The first in the series Eat Pray Die is a fun cozy mystery built around a truly unique premise. Who knew the Hollywood rich and famous needed taste testers? Izzy has moved from Australia to SoCal for an urgently needed job. Conner is her hunky boss, Arthur her roommate, Meow the cat, Mr Black the enforcer and Etta the spunky elderly neighbor (who I’m convinced is ex-CIA). All are delightful and add to the fun. Can't wait to listen to the other books.

FYI, for those who have listened to the original Eat Pray Die audio book the biggest change is that the characters finally have their proper accents. It is well worth a second credit.

Great!

Loved:
-The character's unique job, very clever.
-The Australian narrator; this is one of the rare books that are better listened to than read.
-The pacing was perfect. I have a short attention span and this kept me engaged.
-I couldn't tell who the murderer was.
-I liked our lead characters.

I would caution anyone though who is a bit conservative. There isn't much language, but sexual innuendos are often. There is no sex scene, but there are two foiled rape attempts that made me uncomfortable, so I skipped to the rescue portion. I really enjoyed it overall though and would recommend it.

Ouch! Put this series out of listeners' misery!

Audible - pls put this series out of listeners' misery! Painfully shallow and cliched. I will be requesting a refund!

A fun cozy story

Isobel Avery’s life as a poison taster is more the just tasting food; you get a mystery and an entrée. Isobel’s personality follows the prerequisite alpha type; independent, headstrong, and opinionated. The there’s Conner, her hunky boss to butt heads against. She is being pursued by the Australia mafia type who is demanding that she pays her debt. With what she is making it will take forever to pay it off. Just the qualities need to ratchet the suspense of the mystery.

This is a wonderful cozy mystery that is entertaining and easy to enjoy.

amazon got me hooked on this series

Downloaded this as one of my monthly free offers from Kindle First Reads that also happened to come with the $1.99 audio. Glad I did. not the typical genre I go for, but I always enjoy listening to Saskia Maarleveld.

This was a relatively quick "read". With my 2 hour round trip commute I got through it in a week. went and downloaded the other 5 books in the series via Kindle whisper sink $1.99. For the length I wouldn't want to waste a full audible credit on these. Maybe if the author would sell it as a box set I would.

As for the story, it was a fun easy murder mystery listen. ending was predictable, but poison taste testing for the rich and famous gave it a good foundation. I would recommend if you looking for something ligt as it doesn't require full attention to follow along. Perfect for commuting in traffic or multitasking at home.

side note: I completely sympathized with Izzy's need for a good espresso.

Amusing mystery

As a 70 year old male I am probably not the key demographic for this novel which is a cross between a mystery, a comic novel and a romance novel but it was an amusing if contrived storyline. I doubt I will be a series avid reader but if you are in the intended demographic I can imagine you would find this and the follow on novels of great interest. Well performed and a clever premise.

A new idea!

Ok, I have not come across a poison expert before. This is a light, but very interesting mystery, with my favourite narrator (she has a lovely voice and speaks normally, with no wierd pauses, inflections or emphasis - why do other narrators do that? It is beyond irritating!)
I thoroughly recommend this book. I have just downloaded book 3, so it is all good so far.
