Publisher's Summary

No one likes a rebellious captive. I learned that the hard way. I'd been abducted from Earth and cruelly tormented for my fighting spirit until I learned the only thing that would keep me safe is to be sweet and calm and agreeable. It's what keeps me alive.

When I'm rescued by space pirates, they tell me I'm safe. I'm told I can be myself again, get as angry as I want, laugh and cry and scream all I need. I don't believe them, of course. I certainly don't believe Alyvos, the "muscle" of the pirate ship. Everyone says he likes nothing more than a good fight, but to me, he's kind and protective. How can I fear someone who holds me tenderly through the night and has fuzzy skin?

But my pirate wants more from me than I'm ready to give. He wants my fiery spirit...and I'm not sure it's there anymore.

Contains mature themes.

Unexpectedly Delightful

I was caught off guard in the beginning by the heroines situation (the cover photo was not a dead give away) but it turned into something truly delightful to listen to when you think of all the love the hero throws down for her. He’s not your traditional knight in armor and it makes it delish.

Recommend you close your eyes as you listen and put yourself in her shoes to make it an added bonus.

Is it just me or are these books getting shorter?

This was a great story and I love all of Ruby Dixon's books, but it seems like they are getting shorter and shorter. Almost a novella for a full book price it's getting kinda expensive to keep up with her stories.

My favourite in the series.

This is the third and my favourite book in the Corsairs series of 4. It’s a stand-alone, but includes characters from all four books.

The introduction to the story is excellent, the build-up of the relationship is well paced, the story-line is satisfying, and I felt I got to know the characters well. My only criticism (sorry to nag again), is that I would have liked an extra chapter showing us more of the building of the sexual tension, rather than the story skipping to a “few weeks later.” But that’s just me. I like to read the build-up and I know Ruby Dixon has the ability to do it really well. More build-up and less description of sexy times would have made this a 5 star story for me, even with a small word count (188 pages/4hrs 17mins audio).

Overall, though, I recommend this story, and I've happily listened twice to the whole series as the stories move seamlessly from one book to the other. It's great to have them available now all at once so you can experience them without waiting.

I bought the entire 4 book series in one go during an Audible sale. This couple appears in the subsequent instalment as secondary characters and so you can track their happy ever after for a little longer.

As usual, narrators Hollie Jackson and Mason Lloyd do a wonderful job bringing the characters to life.

Love can be found in the last place you expect.

I really like this story a lot. The story is entertaining and has a lot of feels. The characters were interesting and relatable. I think I would have been more like Alyvos than Iris when it came to the bad Lord dude.

Iris was abducted from Earth by aliens. She soon found out that being rebellious had consequences that she wasn't prepared for and unfortunately she learned that the hard way. Iris's captors want her to be obedient and calm and after what they do to her, she is.

Iris is rescued by pirates, but she doesn't believe them completely. She's afraid that it's a test by her captors especially when her rescuers tell her she can be herself now and doesn't have to be calm all the time. Iris does feel a connection to Alyvos who is the ‘muscle’ of the pirate ship. He likes a good fight, but with her, he’s kind and protective. Alyvos wants Iris to show him her emotions, but can she allow herself to be the woman she used to be?

Parts of this story were very hard for me, but I still enjoyed it. I liked how supportive everyone was of each other. Alyvos was so sweet with Iris, even when he was frustrated. I loved their happy ever after and I recommend reading this book. Or listening to it because that was really good too!

Really don't care for the heroine

What she went through was horrible, but she was just sooooo boring, dull, and cowardly. I get the premise in that her obedience was conditioned into her, but that's just not how a normal person would react when they're certain they're safe (as she clearly did based on the several inner monologues of her saying how safe she is). Then she finds out where a shipment is full of other women being brutalized and hides it because she knows they'll want to go rescue them. I get it..self preservation, but most people sense of obligation and guilt would lead them to want to try and help. She's just like nope.

It's also annoying when someone losing their virginity to someone with a dick the size of a forearm brings them "the greatest pleasure of their life". Yeah, having ones hyman torn and muscles stretched for the first time ever feels ahhhmazing. Not to mention the number of 20+ year old virgin women in romance books...eye roll. This author does however write many heroines who aren't virgins or women who've only been with 2 men and never had an orgasm so I can get past that.

Corsair

I really like the audio for this series. The narrators do a great job bringing the plot to life. This particular book has many descriptions of tortures that happened to woman to include the loss of vision from the main female character so it has moments where you feel so much for her. The big blue tough guy has some moments where you want to tell him he is being ridiculous but it goes well.

Excellent Series

I love Ruby Dixon's writing style. Hopefully she will continue with this series. Her Icehome and Fireblood Dragon series are both awesome!

Another short and not so sweet story

The narration was good. I love when there are 2 member storytellers.
Alivos gets to discover his mate. She is obedient and blind, but he knows that if he can get her angry she will lose the obedience that was beaten into her.

***The Saddest of the Corasair series***

My heart broke for Irish, she went through a horrendous experienced and I'm so glad Alyvos found her. This is a heart wrenching story of a woman life and journey as a slave. Hollie and Mason are both veterans and brilliant at their job so no issues on the audio what so ever.
