About this listen

Brought to you by Penguin.

2022's most original and darkly funny murder mystery from award-winning comedian Benjamin Stevenson.

I was dreading the Cunningham family reunion even before the first murder. Before the storm stranded us at the mountain resort.

The thing is, us Cunninghams don't really get along.

We've only got one thing in common: we've all killed someone.

My brother, my step-sister, my wife, my father, my mother, my sister-in-law, my uncle, my step-father, my aunt. Even me.

When they find the first body in the snow, it's clear that only a Cunningham could have committed the crime—and it's up to me to prove it.

There are plenty of killers in my family. But only one murderer....

Critic Reviews

I absolutely loved it. Utterly original, hugely entertaining, and a must-read for every fan of the mystery genre. What an exceptionally fresh, smart, funny book - I've never read anything like this before. (Jane Harper)
As fresh and zingy as a salted lime. It's Knives Out meets Richard Osman. Or Dexter by way of Agatha Christie. Or Schitt's Creek with a body count. It's also the most luxuriantly enjoyable novel I've read in years. And years. I began toting my copy around town so that strangers would ask me about it - who could resist that title? I only wish there were more members of the Cunningham clan, so that this raucous, matchlessly entertaining mystery could go on longer. Benjamin Stevenson, I've got a lot to learn from you (A.J. Finn)
The best thing I've read in ages. I absolutely loved it. Whip-smart, twisted, funny, and constructed with the pinpoint precision of a bloodthirsty watchmaker. (Stuart MacBride)

Loved the writing; loved the narration. If the clever title and synopsis made be buy the book, the humour made me want it to never end.

A book I am going to be reccomending to as many people I can

Its a one time listen, the narrator tries to keep you hooked, i would much rather have preferred he concentrate on the story instead of narration. Not in love with the characters. Not hooked.

Its not mind blowing but okayish

Gripping from start to end! Great story telling. My companion for the daily long commute to and from office.

This is one of those books where a few chapters in, you regret that you'll soon finish it (and will be left with a void), and yet, you cannot stop compulsively listening to it.

What do I say? Everything is simply brilliant.

The way the author talks about the rules of writing a mystery novel, the way he keeps his promise, and (at the same time) presents us with a grippingly suspenseful (yet laugh-out-loud funny at places) read, it's just no easy feat to pull off something like this.

I loved every moment of it. The performance was as good as the writing. Thank you, Benjamin Stevenson and the team at Audible. I absolutely loved it. 💖

PS: Looking forward to exploring more Aussie crime fiction. Do share recommendations if you can.

One of the best listens...ever! ♥️

The story was well paced and well written. The ending, especially the epilogue felt a little convenient though.
