Publisher's Summary
For eons, the truth about human evolution has remained hidden.
Until now....
Extinction Code
Geophysicist Jack Greer believes he may finally have found the resting place of the meteorite that wiped out the dinosaurs 65 million years ago. A few miles off the Yucatán coast, Jack and a team of scientists tow an aging drilling platform over the impact crater with the aim of securing a sample. But buried deep beneath the earth lies a shocking discovery that threatens to shatter everything we think we know about our species.
A world away, geneticist Dr. Mia Ward receives a mysterious delivery from her former boss and mentor, Alan Salzburg. In it are clues of a dire warning hidden inside the human genome, one which foretells man's very extinction.
His instructions to Mia are simple: Keep the information safe and, above all, trust no one - words all the more chilling after Alan turns up dead. But who wrote the message and what does it mean? Only Jack Greer holds the answers, but can she reach him in time to save the human race?
Extinction Countdown
Dr. Jack Greer's startling discovery beneath the Gulf of Mexico proved to the world we were not alone in the universe. But when images from the Voyager One space probe reveal an alien doomsday ship hurtling toward the earth, the human race seems marked for extinction.
As news of the approaching ship spreads panic around the globe, signs of a sinister plot begin to emerge - one that threatens to unravel the already fragile fabric of society and everything Jack and Dr. Mia Ward have fought for.
But could a mysterious signal emanating from inside Greenland's ice sheet unlock the secrets hidden within our genome and prevent humanity's destruction?
From the frozen fields of Greenland to the bustling Indian subcontinent and the cobbled streets of Rome, the race is on to stop the deadliest countdown to extinction the human race has ever known.
Extinction Crisis
With the doomsday ship only days away from impacting the Earth, humanity's demise seems all but assured. In every corner of the world, news of the impending destruction has led to chaos, looting, and the collapse of the rule of law.
As the foundations of civilization crumble around them, Jack and Mia must race to find answers to perhaps the most important questions of all time. Why have the Ateans repeatedly eradicated life on our planet? And could the key to ending the cycle of extinctions be locked somewhere within the Salzburg Chromosome?
Unraveling the mystery will mean journeying deep into the heart of a perilous alien world and facing off against the very beings who created us.

Holy cliche and bad science, batman!
All SF requires the suspension of disbelief and some kind of hand-wavy science to make it work. This tries to build on what we know and fails utterly in just about every field of science across the board. Every cliche about genetics, diseases, aliens, paleontology, sociology, immunology, particle physics, network security, and more is present and badly explained. If the author had bothered to check, the actual knowledge we have in those fields makes virtually every concept in this book an absurd misread of pop-science myth.
Then there's the writing. Once again, cliche rules the day. Every overused phrase and description is on full display. It's stilted and awkward and constantly takes me out of the story. The narrator reads it like he's reading to an 8 year old.
I'll be avoiding both the author and the narrator in the future.

Truly Amazing Series!
This is a truly excellent series. I really can't say enough for the author who I really don't think gets enough credit. I said in a previous review of the series that it reminded me of Dan Brown and the Robert Langdon series because of its mix of fact and fiction to create an engaging story. It also has science fiction and mystery elements that remind me of the movies (and/or books) "Contact" and "Sphere" with all of the drama that leaves you on the edge of your seat.
While it definitely mixes fact and fiction, and the author takes some creative liberties, I really did think this was an excellent fiction series that is worth the money and time.
The narrator gets better throughout the series as he adapts to the characters and story. After the first book, he's definitely above average.
5 stars all around!
I requested and received a free copy of this audiobook from the author, publisher, or narrator in exchange for an unbiased review. I was NOT required to write a positive review and this reflects my honest opinion of the work.

Could have been great... but it wasn’t
I really liked the concept and plot of the story, and many times I was pulled in to it, but I couldn’t stop the eye rolls from the juvenile dialogue between the characters. The characters are supposed be the “top scientific minds” in their fields, but somehow an “idealistic group of college friends out to save the world “ was the image in my head. These “top minds” described facts and theories to each other as if they were explaining the concepts to a 7th grader. It was painfully obvious that this dialogue was meant to inform the reader rather than the characters in the story. The story was good enough to make me listen through to the end though.

Great listen
It has been a while that I have listened to a book hours back to back, but with this series it was a breeze. This book kept me captivated and opened up my mind for "what if" possibilities. Although it was fiction, the author intertwined a lot of real facts which made this book a great listen. The narrator did a wonderful job working the characters of the women & men. Use your points, you will not be disappointed.

Spectacular SIFI
This story is absolutely fantastic. The best science in any science fiction that I've read. The pacing is awesome between exposition and action. The narrator truly fits. It has the militaristic element that all SIFI has to have apparently, but its not overbearing and beaten onto a dead horse. I highly recommend this series. I will warn that you need all three books together. I would not have been happy with the cliff hangers in between the books otherwise.

This Book was great!!!
The amount of Science in this series was great. A lot was very on point and really had me thinking about the future and long for an extinction event to hit us. (For the good of course). I found myself putting my headphones in and listening every chance I could get.
I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review. But with that said, I will listen to whatever this author puts out. One of my favourite book series of all time

A jumble of recent science and technology facts
This story just tries to do too much by throwing in what seems to be every scifi concept for the last 20 years in a story line that's not believable. This book would have been much better if the author focused on one concept and keep it to one book.

Wow and wow
This is the first to third book I’ve read/listened to by this author and I would listen to another. What a complex story- geophysics trying to do their job, multi country military forces, advanced AI, genetic mutations threatening humanity, global conspiracy, a secret society, alien ship and artifacts. And yet it all comes together into a cohesive story. Impressive, entertaining, a great listen.
This is the first book I’ve listened to by this narrator ( Gary Tiedemann ) and I would listen to another. He is a wonderful voice actor and brings out the emotion in every scene. His character voices, both male and female, are distinct and imbued with personality.
There are no explicit sex scenes, there is violence but not excessive. I can’t remember any swearing.

Humanity beware
This was a very captivating series! Humanity is on the brink of evolution, alien contact and maybe even doomsday is imminent, conspiracy theories abound, and a shadow organization called Sentinel, with a devious purpose, light up this series. James D. Prescott mixes fact, fiction, science fiction, and drama to try and stop the next extinction event right on our doorstep. Gary Tiedemann gives a solid performance and brings the characters to life. Great character development, great world building, love, tragedy, betrayal, and a few creative liberties make for one heck of a ride! This series is heavy on science and I appreciated the explanations at the end explaining where a lot of it came from. This is a great story and a good value. I highly recommend it.

Really enjoyed!
Really enjoyed this book. Keeps you guessing and the ending is not what you think it will be. There is a twist that you do not see coming at all. I also like that all the books are together so the listening is seamless. The characters are well thought out and the execution was wonderful. Narration was great characters were brought to life completing the loop. You wont be sorry for getting this. Well worth it and tons of listening hours for the price.

Load of drivel - another credit wasted
Just not good writing, the pace is so fast and so constantly going off on tangents like an inexperienced writer was just making it up as they went along.
A ship hundreds of millions of year old, mummified corpses, nonsensical plot lines.
I struggled at first with the narrator too. Not that he was bad just too softly spoken and monotone often.
I liked the initial premise of the book but it just got ridiculous. It felt like the author had no hard science background at all and it was just a high level romp that you had to completely suspend disbelief completely.
I bought the 3 book set and feel like I wasted a few hours trying to get into this.

Short chapters and everyone a cliff-hanger! A decent listen but if you think the dialogue in the first half is a bit naff then brace yourself, it gets very cringy indeed. And when the baddy makes a speech there is a disappointing lack of Mwahahahaaa.
Good fun though, a real comic book boys own romp.

Fast paced entertaining listen
Stitching together some interesting new discoveries and ancient fringe hypothesise to create a fast moving tale. Enough science to give it a hint of plausibility. Entertaining listen.

Enjoyable tale
Science fiction stories are a favourite and will always try a new author. The Australian accent went to a South Island New Zealand finishing up as South African. I still liked the story.

A riveting and engrossing story
Great set of books encompassing a riveting story. But agree with other reviewers that the narrator’s version of an Aussie accent for the character of Ollie, was terrible ! But definitely not a unique flaw in the collection of Audible books that I’ve listened to.

Contrived and Condescending
This story had a lot of potential but it' was hard to get invested.
It felt like a first draft more than a polished final product, there were several times I wondered if it had seen any beta readers.
The characters feel less like people and more like tools to get the plot moving and they sometimes behave unusually just to make it happen.
There are scientific bases for the author's logic and plot (a point he is happy to bring to your attention at the end of the book) but the story itself was too contrived to really feel like I could suspend my disbelief and just enjoy it.
Performance is fine, but often characters bleed into each other, though female and male are distinct and dialogue in this story doesn't do a lot to differentiate it's characters.
I think this story could be better with a bit more time in the editing phase.
(spoilers)
The story likes to ask questions, typically at the end of chapters as some kind of hook to keep you listening, but ultimately doesn't take the time to explore the questions it asks.
An example that stands out to me is the questioning if the Aliens are friendly but after the question is asked the characters only ever refer to being extinct and bizarrely assume the alien craft will only ever do what the plot makes it do.
This ultimately makes me wonder why the antagonists are even considered bad given their intentions to prevent it.
