Not a Complete Story

My major complaint is that you only get part of the book, not a full story, so have book 5 on hand.
I could say this is a cliffhanger, but there's a big difference between a closing cliffhanger and having absolutely zero resolution to any part of the story, which is what this book does.

Other than that, it's similar to the first three, though with more contained drama. It's on that same wild thread, just much tamer.

I honestly think the last two books should have been one book, and the ending of this story should have been the midpoint of the book. That would have made a lot more sense, and some of the unnecessary excess could have been cut.

Better than the first 3

For some reason, I think I liked this book better then the first 3. I find Easton a bit more interesting. It’s been a long stretch between book 3 and 4 for me, only because after reading the first 3, I was “meh”. I didn’t feel like continuing. But its the end of the year and I wanted to up my “Read” count quickly. And this fit the bill AND it became available on audio as well. Easy read for my commute to work.

Not a lot goes on in the first half or so. Easton is pursuing Hartley and she wants nothing to do with him. Easton cannot understand how anyone could resist him, ‘cause everybody wants him. “You are nothing but trouble, Easton”, and he is. What I like about THIS story vs the previous 3, is the “entitlement” and selfish nature of Easton and how Hartley calls him on it. Easton berates the girls of Aster for being entitled bitches, but what about him? Everything Easton does is for Easton, not anyone else. Easton begins to think about this but still makes stupid selfish decisions that hurt others. By the end of the book, we have a cliff hanger. I can guess what happens next, as I’ve read enough of this genre to see the freight train coming, but I’ll dive into book 5. I need to see how this turns out.

A MUST READ/LISTEN

Loved hearing Easton's story. Zachary Webber is by far my favorite male narrator of all the audible books I've listened to.

A great series but personally not my favorite

I was a bit disappointed because I preordered this book and the next too because I was so excited to keep listening and checked constantly in with audible but it just didn't have the same effect that the story had with the previous books:(?
However it is still a good book and FANTASTIC narration which is most certainly worth a credit:)

Great performancie, bad story

I am giving it 2,5 stars (narration 4 stars, story 1 star). I read YA books but this was not my cup od tea. Narration was almost perfect, but the story was far from it. I did not enjoy it, but I hope others will.

Not bad!!

This book is more about Easton. I enjoy him his Funny and charming and talks a lot with himself. It’s tough to see how he makes illogical decisions seem logical. It makes me sad to see how he is always trying to feel loved by those around him and how easy his Mindy can spiral out of control. The ending just broke my heart. It was a good read. Happy reading!!!

Great narration that nailed the character.

I really enjoyed this book (and all the Royals books).

I was surprised how well Zachary Webber did with narrating this book!

I think I was iffy from the the previous books because I’d gotten so used to Angela’s (Ella’s narrating voice) voices for Reed & Easton.
But Zachary NAILED Easton & portraying his cocky yet endearing personality.
It even reminded me of an ex a few times because he is literally the same person as Easton (lol) & said things the exact same way. This book made me laugh quite a few times with the sh*t Easton said/thought, and it was thanks to how Zachary read his lines.

Don’t waste your audio credit!

Don’t waste your credit. Just borrow the book at the library and go to the very end because that’s when it starts to get interesting. I would say the last two pages of the chapter. The Narrator was great!!!

Favorite in the series

I'm enjoying the Royal series so much but have found it to be immature and over sexualized at times. I like that this book really delves into East's character and takes you on a journey through his trauma as well as how he thinks and why he acts in the ways he does. Loved the author's depiction of a boy becoming a man who just wants to see and be seen. Beautiful story with a huge cliff hanger at the end. The voice acting was great and really allowed for full engagement with the story. 5 stars all around!

The first three books I enjoyed but it was boring to listen to this book
Zachary did a good job Well done !!!
I'm kind of disappointed Easton was made such a boring story
The story was unfinished and ended with a twist.
