About this listen

I may be the villain of the story, but at least I get a leading role.

Evil is a term thrown around history and literature as if it's something so easily definable. A concept to fight against. Evil doesn't exist. Neither does "good".

Vampires do, though. I just happen to be one. I've cruised through the centuries managing to avoid all the wars, supernatural and human, but still going to all the best parties. I would say I avoided bloodshed, but it's kind of part of the whole "vampire" thing.

I've lived on the fringes of a society that considered cruelty and sadism favorable character traits for almost 500 years. Now, I'm in the middle of a war that might just put my non-beating heart in a lot of danger.

Battles, I can handle. The impossible attraction between the vampire slayer and I, not to mention the penetrating gaze of the king of our race, on the other hand? I might not get out undead.

Contains mature themes.

Lyla... Is My Top freaking favorite heroine now. She's the boss woman who's cool, funny and would be a dangerous enemy yet the Bestest ally.
Wow... What the heck... I seriously didn't at all expect to be so blown over and instantly obsessed over this book... And we have three more to devour... Yayyyy me!!

But for the first time, I'm having a hard time wanting to choose between the vampire king or our hottie, Slayer.
Although, this was my problem as Lyla has already made her choice. 😉

First off, it's a bit longish one to listen but doesn't feel like it and I'm glad I listened to the audiobook of this one, because of how brilliantly our narrator has not only captured the many moods of Lyla but it's so much more fun and makes more sense, whenever lyla is being sarcastic or giving away her sassy self.

So our story primarily is about our vampire heroine, Lyla who comes from a royalty kinda family of vampires.
We see that vampires can't be created and are actually born so.
Lyla not only hates her family and rightfully so, as her past shows us why lyla is so cold hearted and detests her family so much.

I can't tell you how much I LOVED FREAKING LOVED her character. The author, I have to say, has written her character so brilliantly as Lyla's attitude could have come across as irritating because of how chilled out she always is.

Lyla is the Bestest kind of heroine that will make you giggle and shocked sometimes at the same time. She doesn't flinch even when faced with horrifying danger and threats don't work on her.
She's immortal and knows how stunning she is, obviously, perks of being a vamp but what's very different is her nature, especially how she differs from her own species in the way she cares for humans or innocents.

Mind you, she'll never admit to her caring and will probably call you crazy for that, but she's a softie at heart.
Lyla has an understanding with the local sheriff where she helps him out deleting the scum kinda people who hurt others by meting out justice in her own way.

For almost half a millenia now she's being living life on her own terms and has not let anyone in her life, especially after what happened.
But what about the chemistry she shares with the vampire king, who's such a commanding man but with a primal power unlike anyone.

But that's not our hero though as we have a hot slayer who's hate-hate relationship with lyla soon turns into sizzling chemistry but their kind hunts vampires and vice versa so actually Thorn, the slayer and Lyla can't be together.

Seriously, I've never ever been so conflicted with whom to choose as I was in this one. Both of the men have great chemistry with Lyla and I know Lyla has made her choice with our hottie, Thorn and he's so dayumm great too but there is also something about the vamp king that is so hot.
Ahhh... Atleast Lyla chose one, I would've taken freaking forever because it is difficult to choose between the Slayer and the Vamp king.

Scott, Lyla's sidekick is so cute and I loved their interactions.
Also Lyla's bestie, the witch was amazing and seriously I need to see if we have a book with her because after knowing her abilities and how cool she is, I would love to read a book with her in it as the main one.

Honestly, I can't really sum up everything because there is so freaking much happening in this book and I still couldn't have enough.

We have vampires, witches, slayers and demons... OH my.... I loved the battles and full on action we get.
Lyla is phenomenal as our sassy vampire.
Thorn and Lyla were so hot together and I can't have enough of them together.

But that ending.. Oh my.... Mind you.. That cliffy will shock you and at that point I had increased my listening speed as I couldn't believe what was happening and was soo scared. Then there's that ending. I'm so excited to dive into the next one. Loved absolutely loved this one. ♥️♥️♥️♥️
