In America's heartland, Sam seeks justice for a black college student who's found dead in a car trunk at the drive-in, while thousands gather in the nation's capital for the March on Washington with civil rights leader Martin Luther King, Jr.

This audio takes place during the heart of the civil rights movement, in a small, quiet Midwestern town. A black man is found dead in the trunk of a car, and Sam McCain, the town's attorney, seeks justice. This mellowly written murder mystery really evokes the mood of small town, rural America in the '60s, and delves thoughtfully into the intense race relations of the time. Prejudice and violence are the context for this story, which is ultimately about justice and redemption. Allan Robertson's grumbling cadence adds a whole other layer of drama to this, the seventh book in Ed Gorman's series Sam McCain.
