Publisher's Summary
Rose loves Dimitri. Dimitri might love Tasha. And Mason would die to be with Rose....
It’s winter break at St. Vladimir’s, but Rose is feeling anything but festive. A massive Strigoi attack has put the school on high alert, and now the Academy’s crawling with Guardians - including Rose’s hard-hitting mother, Janine Hathaway. And if hand-to-hand combat with her mom wasn’t bad enough, Rose’s tutor Dimitri has his eye on someone else, her friend Mason’s got a huge crush on her, and Rose keeps getting stuck in Lissa’s head while she’s making out with her boyfriend, Christian! The Strigoi are closing in, and the Academy’s not taking any risks... This year, St. Vlad’s annual holiday ski trip is mandatory.
But the glittering winter landscape and the posh Idaho resort only create the illusion of safety. When three friends run away in an offensive move against the deadly Strigoi, Rose must join forces with Christian to rescue them. But heroism rarely comes without a price....

Awful narration, good book
I’ve read the books before, and the fact that I wanted the audiobook means I obviously liked the story. Although the narration almost ruined it, to be honest. How does one person pronounce the same thing 5 different ways in the narration of the same book? Bad performance.

the story is great the narrator not so much
when the narrator started to call Mia Maya my stomach turned.. it was hard to hear it every time.
but the book is great, i have read it like 4 times already, 1st time listening. i hope they will re do it with a different narrator.

Great story terrible reading
I loved the story line and the 2nd chapter to the series. Howevern the reader did not convey the proper emotions for the story. For example, something would be said in an excited voice when it was supposed to be mumbled. It was completely off from what it should be

Hvam is a downgrade from the narration of book 1
Despite the horrible voicing and distracting over-diction of this narrator; i still managed to enjoy this audible. It is nice to listen to books I have already read the old fashioned way.

Occasional mistakes
Narrator confused Mia Rinaldi's name and called her MAYA. Starting when Rose meets Adrienne Ivashkov.

the reader really soured the experience
the readers voice was so different than that of the first book and it was really hard to get over at first. also, she made rose sound like a braty 12 year old and Dimitri suddenly didnt have a Russian accent

Great
I loved this book and the narrator does a great job of getting the emotions of the characters across. I only wish sh had at least tried with the accents Dimitri and Adrian feel only half themselves without it.

almost ok
I get that these books are YA but that doesn't mean the characters have to be "look at me being young & dumb" from time to time. The world building is interesting and the characters are almost good. Then, bam....Look at me being dumb & making stupid choices, just after being intelligent. The main character especially can give you whiplash. It ruins all the better writing.

Love this series!
I read this series years ago and it’s always been one of my favorites. I decided to listen to the audio version since it’s easier for me to do with kids and house work. I still love this series just as much as I did when I read it the first time.
As far as the voice actress-I wish she would have just talked normal like she did towards the end of the book. The voice for Rose was annoying and just didn’t fit the character. Also she changed the was she pronounced Mia halfway through the book. Her name is Mee-ya and she started saying it My-a. Really annoyed me since I knew what her name was supposed to be.
Overall I still recommend this book and series!

Good book with horrible narration
I liked this book, but the narration was terrible, especially for the main character! Sentences sounding like questions were irritating, the weird accent, change in speed & volume were just too distracting. But, most of the other character voices were okay and I think done by the same person. I would recommend reading this book if possible, although I can not, due to optic nerve damage.

Love the book!
My biggest issue is that Mia’s name is pronounced like Maya. It’s not a huge deal, but it throws me off a bit when listening to it.

The narrator keeps changing.
I don’t like it the changing narrator cause it messes with my perception of Rose. At least this girl pronounced moroi and dhampir correctly.

The voices are... something
Honestly not keen on the voices used, it’s an improvement on the last narrator but the baby voices are annoying. Also the pronunciation of Glasgow was so bizarre I almost missed where she meant. This was followed by a bad southern English accent. Not sure why this happened since Glaswegians have a distinctive accent even within Scotland, but whatever. I hope that Rose’s mum doesn’t have this every time she appears because it really grated.
Anyway this aside, the books are good. The bloodlines spin of series which I read after is better 5* but enjoyed this as well.

Love the story. Didn't like the voices.
I have read this book many times. It was nice to hear it in audible. However, I didn't like Roses voice. The other characters were fine but for some reason I just didn't like her voice I kind of just put up with it
