As an Indian listener, I found the narrator’s exaggerated accent incredibly distracting and, at times, almost impossible to follow. It took away from my ability to immerse myself in what was otherwise a five-star story. A good book deserves narration that enhances the experience, not one that becomes an obstacle to it.

If you loved the unhinged publishing satire of Yellowface, Fruit Fly hits that exact same cynical frequency. Mallory is easy to brand as a villain, but just like June Hayward or Athena Liu, no author is entirely innocent—every writer borrows from real misery. Mallory’s obsession with Leo felt less like pure malice and more like a broken, suffocating woman clinging to someone else's trauma to find purpose. Uncomfortable, morally gray, and the audiobook makes being inside her head delightfully chaotic. 4/5 ★

Audio performance was solid. When the book started, I thought it will be this funny tongue in cheek dark comedy satire. Which it is, don't get me wrong, but it is so much more than that.
