The WS magic is missing in this one. The grandeur of the African backdrop is missing. The story seems an empty attractive shell. The plot which is special to Wilbur Smith novels is missing.
The Hero lacks the strength, the villain is just too boring, the thread connecting them so uninteresting.
Monsoon was a page turner and to be read over and over, this one disappoints
