It was just a typical Monday. Until the big boss asked me to make the pitch for a prospective new client. After two years on shaky ground at work because of my screw up, an opportunity to impress the senior partners was just what I needed. Or so I thought, until I walked into the conference room and collided with the man I was supposed to pitch to. My coffee spilled, my files tumbled to the ground, and I almost lost my balance. And that was the good part of my day. Because the gorgeous man who crouched down and looked at me like he wanted to eat me alive was none other than my ex.

The kingdom of Cornucopia was once the happiest in the world. It had plenty of gold, a king with the finest moustache you could possibly imagine, and butchers, bakers, and cheesemongers whose exquisite foods made a person dance with delight when they ate them. Everything was perfect - except for the misty Marshlands to the north, which, according to legend, were home to the monstrous Ickabog. Anyone sensible knew that the Ickabog was just a myth to scare children into behaving. But the funny thing about myths is that sometimes they take on a life of their own.

u love , u lose and yet u love again...
- By Anshika G. on 21-12-20
Publisher's Summary
In Christian’s own words, and through his thoughts, reflections, and dreams, E L James offers a fresh perspective on the love story that has enthralled millions of readers around the world.
Christian Grey exercises control in all things; his world is neat, disciplined, and utterly empty - until the day that Anastasia Steele falls into his office in a tangle of shapely limbs and tumbling brown hair.
He tries to forget her but instead is swept up in a storm of emotion he cannot comprehend and cannot resist. Unlike any woman he has known before, shy, unworldly Ana seems to see right through him - past the business prodigy and the penthouse lifestyle to Christian’s cold, wounded heart.
Will being with Ana dispel the horrors of his childhood that haunt Christian every night? Or will his dark sexual desires, his compulsion to control, and the self-loathing that fills his soul drive this girl away and destroy the fragile hope she offers him?

Zachary Webber is Christian Grey:-)
Would you listen to Grey again? Why?
Maybe but only if Zachary Webber as the Narrator, he was the reason that I pre-ordered it as soon as I found he was narrating Grey.. then it was a buy for me!
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
Nothing, it allows us to understand Christian the readers/listeners needed POV from Grey's side of thoughts & to know what he feels & thinks helps us to understand him better!
Have you listened to any of Zachary Webber’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Zachary Webber is my headline, I think that states it all :-) I just see Zach's name on narration for a book & the book is sold for me. As for Zach's performance of Christian Grey he speaks slow enough to hear every word & he became the part.. he is Christian!
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Not extreme reaction, just a better understanding of Christian & that he honestly does love Anatasia, but gives in to his dark side, and we know why..
Any additional comments?
That's all folks:-)

I felt cheated by this purchase. It was virtually the same book as the original Fifty Shades until three quarters of the way through, when the author decided to give us slightly more insight into Christian's character. I won't be purchasing any further episodes in this series.

Spectacular
Would you listen to Grey again? Why?
Yes
What did you like best about this story?
Grey's POV
Have you listened to any of Zachary Webber’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Zachary Webber's voice was like warm chocolate running over your body, he was perfect for the character voice of Christian Grey.
Any additional comments?
All I can say is OMFG Grey's POV is spectacular, having an insight into what is going on in Grey's brain is brilliant, narrated by Zachary Webber who's voice is like melted chocolate flowing over your body I cannot wait for Darker and Freed to be released. You will be amazed at how different Grey's POV is, this is even better than the original story.

Popped my audible cherry. Pleasantly surprised!
If you could sum up Grey in three words, what would they be?
Exceeded my expectations.
What other book might you compare Grey to and why?
This was my first audio book so I don't have anything to compare it to. I feel the actual book was written better than the earlier series. It didn't seem as repetitive and the story was more exciting to me. This might be because I already know Anastasia's side to the story so can see the broader picture now.
What does Zachary Webber bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
I feel he portrayed Christian very well. I am interested in hearing more audio books narrated by Zachary in the future.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
The flashbacks of Christians childhood. The soft innocence in Zachary's voice brought 'child Christian' to life for me and at times I was left in tears as a result.
Any additional comments?
I enjoyed this book (and audio narration) much more than I had expected.Initially when I read the prelude to Grey at the end of the Anastasia series, I didn't enjoy reading what Christian was thinking. I hadn't at that time imagined those kinds of thoughts going through his head, most likely because I am not a male who enjoys total control, and because I didn't fully understand him. The further I got into this book, the more I understood Christian as a character and why his thoughts were so.I've read other reviews commenting on the lack of emotion from Zachary as narrator, even comparing him to the narrator for Anastasia in the earlier books however I feel his straight forward and sometimes monotone speech fits perfectly with the stern, focused, in control and emotionally dark/troubled character that is Christian Grey. Being my first audio book, I wasn't sure if I would be able to focus on the story with someone else s voice in my head. This turned out to be a non-issue.Very occasionally I had trouble knowing the difference between when Christian was speaking, and when he had moved on to thoughts. I found reading the book along with the audio at certain points helpful with this.I am very pleased that I gave Grey a chance. I'm looking forward to the next book(s).

Much better than the original 50 shades
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
If you've read 50 shades this gives you a look into the character and formative years of Christian. The story is still weak and repetetive but it does provide provide a context for the darkness in Christian's character. A good addition to the successful trilogy.

Was this written in a weekend?
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
Yes, in the fact that having read the others I really wanted to hear more and would have always wondered.
Has Grey put you off other books in this genre?
Not at all. The genre is fine, it was the cheap repetitiveness that was almost offensive. It was literally what Anastasia had said in the other books with a mans voice. I couldn't quite believe it. Shockingly poor attempt of a book.
What about Zachary Webber’s performance did you like?
Lovely voice, just as I had imagined Grey to sound. Felt the feelings really come through.
Was Grey worth the listening time?
Unfortunately not.

So much better than the female narrator of the 50 shades of Grey book. I could listen to this over and over again!! Hopefully there will be a second book through Christian Greys eyes. I much prefer his perspective over Ana Steele's, she just winges all the time. I'm more the darker side.

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
I was really looking forward to this book, I was very disappointed. It was the same story. I would not recommend wasting you money on this book if you have already read fifty shades. Wish I hadn't bought it :-(
Has Grey put you off other books in this genre?
Yes I will not buy another book from grey..... I love the original and will stick with that.
How did the narrator detract from the book?
He was not my Mr grey

Needs Re-recording NOW
THE WORST narration. Not sure I can listen to the whole thing. As we all know, the writing isn't great to start with but at least Becca Battoe gave the first three books some personality, thus getting to know characters and enabling you to loose yourself a little (and accept the books for what they were). This guy has absolutely NO intonation, rhythm - I could go on! Considering this is such a high profile book, I can't believe more care wasn't taken over the choice of narrator, direction/production. It seems the rush to get it out on audio has proved it's downfall. Extremely hard to listen to.
From a writing point of view, of course expectations cannot be high. However, for a complicated character like Christian Grey (as hinted at from Ana's pov in first three books) I'm hugely disappointed with his pedestrian thinking. I thought she might have injected something in there that we didn't already know by reading the first three books. That said, I've only managed to listen to the first few hours (for reasons described above). Maybe that's all I'll manage!
Hugely disappointed thus far.

Refreshing
Clear up Grey's behaviour, personally I didn't like the voice of the narrator, sound too old. I now also can relate the actor from the movie, Yes I was one who didn't like him for Grey I couldn't relate him to my Grey, But he portrait this Grey very well.

Don't waste your time
It is literally just regurgaling the first book. The narrator doing Ana's and little Christians voice over is quite frankly, creepy.
I have no idea why I thought listening to this nonsense would be a good idea. Rather read the original book again before listening to this.

More of an Off White, than Grey
Story is a copy and paste of the original, with very little of the "More" I was expecting to give incite into the Christian Grey mindset. Narration is above average but the changing of the pronunciation of names was distracting. Overall A bit like the Movie, would be OK if you listened to it first, but a real let down after the original.

50 Shades of...
After watching all the movies and listening to the original 50 shade series I was curious to hear it from Christian side.
Not disappointed with the story from his side. Darker but left you wanting more..
I'm addicted...
Next up Darker.

Good listen
Loved hearing Grey’s perspective. Child’s perspective voice a little annoying, but overall a good listen

Good perspective
It provides a unique perspective to his character.
It was heart wrenching to see what he went through as a child.

Love it
So good to hear from Christian's side. And hear his version of events. Also more of his sad story with his birth mother.
