Die Indie-Regisseurin Alex Levitin reist widerwillig nach Neuseeland, um den "geschmacklosesten Film aller Zeiten" zu retten, denn sie braucht das Geld. Es macht die Aufgabe nicht gerade leichter, dass sie an ihrem ersten Tag fast die örtliche Polizistin überfährt.

Senior Constable Sam Keegan ist jedenfalls weder vom Film noch von der Hollywood-Crew begeistert, die in ihre Stadt eingefallen ist. Und schon gar nichts hält sie von der süßen Alex mit dem flotten Mundwerk und den lausigen Fahrkünsten.

Doch als mysteriöse Vorfälle die Dreharbeiten gefährden, müssen sich die beiden Frauen zusammenraufen, um den Saboteur zu finden. Vor der atemberaubenden und zugleich chaotischen Kulisse des Filmsets lässt die Anziehungskraft zwischen Sam und Alex nicht lange auf sich warten.
