An Bord des Passagierdampfers "Ormuz" auf der Fahrt nach Bombay wird Mr. Hatch Zeuge einer heftigen Auseinandersetzung in einer ihm fremden Sprache. Er mischt sich ein und kriegt einen Kinnhaken. Im weiteren Verlauf verliebt Hatch sich in eine angebliche Prinzessin, macht ihr bei einem Kamelausflug in Aden einen Antrag und heiratet sie schließlich an Bord.
