ABOUT THIS AUDIBLE ORIGINAL

Please note: This content is not for kids. It is for mature audiences only. This audio comedy features sexual content, adult language and themes, and violence against peasants and hobgoblins alike. Discretion is advised.

Heads Will Roll is an Audible Original from Saturday Night Live star Kate McKinnon and her cocreator/costar (and real-life sister) Emily Lynne. Produced by Broadway Video, this is not an audiobook - it’s a 10-episode, star-studded audio comedy that features performances from Meryl Streep, Tim Gunn, Peter Dinklage, Queer Eye’s Fab Five, and so many more.

Queen Mortuana of the Night Realm (McKinnon) and her ditsy raven minion JoJo (Lynne) receive a prophecy about a peasant uprising. Together, they must journey to find the “Shard of Acquiescence”, which will put down the rebellion and save the throne. Will their friendship survive sensitive generals, chatty sex slaves, whiny behemoths, princes with bird fetishes, and the notion of democracy?

This raunchy satire also includes the wicked talents of Andrea Martin, Carol Kane, Audra McDonald, Aidy Bryant, Alex Moffat, Heidi Gardner, Chris Redd, Steve Higgins, Bob the Drag Queen, Esther Perel, and more. So, hold on to your head, and let the bad times roll.

Laugh riot all the way!

I have finished this audiobook in one day. That's how addictive this is. Plus this is a laugh marathon from sentence one. I've always liked Kate Mckinnon and I love her even more in this! You literally cannot go wrong with this.

ur good to go if u r aware of SNL sketches

I finished three chapters and I couldn't go on, as in many places you can't get connected to the situation potrayed as they have core American shade. more importantly this for those audience who strictly follow news and aware of socio-political satires. I absolutely love Kate... she is the best. but I would recommend the listiner let this "roll away".

Laughter riot

This one is quite a riot, with light and commendable humor. The plethora of witty adult clichéd jokes just keeps on coming. Kate McKinnon &Emily Lynne are brilliant in this. The story and characters are hilarious! Big win - great for a giggle while doing chores. the story is the epitome of the modern evil Queen with modern problems and the age old question of how to keep your kingdom intact while coursing through the trivial struggles of maintaing constant evil in the world. hope this turns into sitcom soon.

Loved it. Incredibly funny from the first scene to the last.
The performances by the actors is spot on. It's a real laugh fest!
The music in between is really catchy too! I'd be lying if I said I didn't catch myself humming it way too many times!

All stars for these all stars

This show is absolutely hilarious! It combines the SNL-style humor we know from Kate McKinnon with an all-star cast of actors to create this joyous radio play! The pleasant switches from famour stars like tim Gunn and Meryl Streep to the friends & SNL co-stars like Aidy Bryant and Alex Moffat bring the story to life even more, and Emily Lynne SHINES and manages to keep up with her sister with ease, proving herself a star in her own right. The songs are a joy as well, and I’m hoping they’ll be released on Spotify at some point in the near future.

We need a season 2 of this brilliant show

I absolutely love this it’s genius! Kate McKinnon and Emily Lynne are brilliant and so is everyone else doing the voices and their are many recognisable voices from Snl as well as the great Meryl Streep! The music is great too and Emily Lynne has a great voice!
Audible do yourselves a favour and commission a follow up to this genius sharp and witty audio comedy!

Radio comedy at its best

Radio drama and comedy can sometimes feel like the unwanted step child of the entertainment industry. I think the fact that a good creative team can produce an excellent and entertaining show for much less than a TV series or movie means that it's looked down on.

Heads will roll is one of those entertaining shows. I don't think that it would translate to the screen, but I sincerely hope that there's more to come. It reminds me of the BBC radio show The Castle, with smatterings of social commentary and modern references delivered with a wink to the audience. I thought that the stellar cast list would overshadow the story but it genuinely didn't.

If you like irreverent comedy then definitely add this to your library.

Spat my coffee out laughing. RIP coffee.

Bizzare. Engaging. Hilarious. The comedic timing delivered by Kate Mckinnon is spot on. The writing is great, story bizzare and hilarious, the Queen makes me laugh every scene.

It's ok

Look, I love Kate McKinnon as much as the next lesbian. But this just fell so flat on me.

I give one star because I managed to finish it, one because I laughed out loud once or twice, and one solely because Esther Perel's in it and she is an incredible pool of wisdom that I can not get enough of.

If you do not like the preview, like me, don't listen to it. It stays exactly the same all the way throughout and does not get any cleverer along the way.

Ok

There was some great potential here but so much was cringy. The overall story was good & all the narrators did a great job. But found from time to time the 'jokes' were cringy or overused like the whole "not a virgin", that became old real damn quick. Was some good aspects in here but wont re listen.
