the Shakespeare Appreciated series is outstanding
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I would highly recommend this to anyone who wants to get the most out of Shakespeare. The commentary and its historical notes and explanatory comments open up the text to everyone. Particularly recommended for students who need to read Shakespeare.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No. Best to take it by chunks to digest the acts/scenes.
Any additional comments?
Wish there were more Shakespeare plays in this series.

Awesome Study Aide and Excellent Performances
Just terrific. Enough background and footnote type commentaryso that at no point are you bored or lost. Terrific for the Shalespeare novice. Listen to this and then watch the film or see the play and you will appreciate Shakespeare. My only complaint is that Smart Pass do not have more of Shakespeare's plays available yet in this ingenious format.

first experience with Shakespeare read aloud
Would you listen to Henry V again? Why?
This was fantastic. I am very experienced with Shakespeare but my son (14) who hasn't had much Shakespeare and struggles reading and my husband with little to no Shakespeare experienced all enjoyed it.
What did you like best about this story?
This version has inter-dispersed explanations of the story and history and wording which I found perfectly timed and well done. The voices were different enough to tell the characters apart. Although it was very long, the story was understood and the knowledge gained was fabulous.
Which scene was your favorite?
Henry sneaking among the men
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Very inspirational, good leadership portrayed

Many inaccuracies in the history set in chapter 1
The history set in chapter 1 is so sloppy and inaccurate that it was painful listening. Don’t waste your money.

This is destroyed by the commentary
I wanted to hear dramatise dramatise unabridged Henry V instead there is a commentator in this that’s absolutely annoying and interferes with the story. The actors them sells do fine, however the presence of this constant interruption commentary ruins the entire production

Pretty Solid Excellent Performance
Chapter 23 starts the unabridged version of Henry V. Chapter 1 starts the play with commentary interrupting from time to time. Both are great. The commentary can sometimes be just a restating which feels like a waste of time and at other times the commentary is her own opinion, which I didn't always agree with, but the factual information is still there and is solid.

Very interesting...
...but the performance itself is somewhat disappointing. It's not terrible and I do recommend this as way to learn more about the play and its context. However, there are far better versions if you just want to enjoy a performance of Shakespeare's sublime play.

Great format and enjoyable story
I find this format great because of the explanations of the scenes, language used and historical context. It is then followed by a version without the explanations.
