Publisher's Summary

In the brand-new thrilling mystery from a number one Amazon and International best-selling author, Detective David Wolf is pulled to a high plateau in the heart of the Colorado Rockies and to a murder case that will test every ounce of his character.

When a sheriff’s son is found dead in a neighboring county to the south, clues show foul play. Led by the same sheriff now doubling as a father hell-bent on vengeance, the investigation turns violent, pushing the local district attorney north to Rocky Points for help. They need somebody with an outside perspective to lead the investigation, and Chief Detective David Wolf is just their man.

Wolf has no pending investigations, and there’s a fellow man in law enforcement in need, so he has little reason to say no and every reason to say yes. However, it’s not the sheriff who’s asking for help. And as it turns out Wolf has a history on the football field with this sheriff - one involving a lot of pain for Wolf.

Setting aside personal feelings, Wolf ventures south and gets tangled in a mysterious investigation, and he finds a truth that is fractured, its pieces scattered wide by the explosive nature of the big man from the gridiron now wearing the badge in Crow Valley.

Just as expected Wolf finds his presence is unwanted, but it’s soon clear that innocent people are in mortal danger with the vigilante justice that’s being doled out in Crow County, and there are unseen forces at play rendering all involved blind. With danger looming if he makes one misstep, can Wolf gather all the pieces of truth and stop the killing?

Or will this be the time he dies trying?

The David Wolf Mystery Thriller series blazes ahead with an adventure mystery thriller that will keep you listening until the final moment!

Excellent Addition to this series!

This is such a good series. Each book can be listened to as a standalone but I would suggest listening to the series in order for continuity in the progression of character and relationship development
The publisher’s summary is very helpful, so I will only add a little bit more. When the son of a sheriff in a neighboring town is found murdered David Wolf is loaned out to head the investigation.
What begins as a normal investigation soon takes a turn. It seems the sheriff is a rather large 7’, 350 lb man who has been intimidating everyone in the town for years. Initially he attempts to intimidate Wolf as well. It appears that the son was not a very nice person and the sheriff covered up a sexual assault a couple of years earlier. Not only did the woman recant but the DA and the undersheriff resigned and the local doctor gave up his practice to work solely as a coroner. The ending is great and I never saw it coming.
This is a very good addition to this series. Probably one of the better more recent books. It is fast paced and has a great plot.
Sean Patrick Hopkins does an excellent job narrating.
This book has my HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION.

Enjoyable series

The David Wolf series Book 15 High Road continues with the excellent plots and outstanding character development we have come to expect from the series. Sean Patrick Hopkins narrates this novel and the prior 14 in the series superbly.

Love it

High Road continues with Wolf, the grumpy but very likable detective. He is sent to help in another community and we find he isn’t so grumpy after all.
The book twists and turns and is pretty unpredictable which is awesome since it is book 15.
Highly recommend.

Still love this series!

I've only come across a few book series that make me long for the next book each time I finish one. The stories are high quality and engaging with top notch narration.

Love this series...

Fifteen books and I still love David Wolf. I just wish Jeff Carson could write faster.

David was asked to find out who killed the sheriff of a neighboring town's son and keep that sheriff under control. And since David and Clark Mustaine had history they didn't like each other. Needless to say, it didn't work out for Mustaine in the end.

No romance, just a kiss or two, and there was no swearing to speak of.

As for the narration: Sean Patrick Hopkins does such a fantastic job on all the characters' voices, especially David's.

Shallow characters with predictable storyline

I think over time these books are deteriorating and I think I will skip the rest. What a waste of time. Time I won’t get back in my life. Every facet of this book was predictable, I listened to the end in case I was wrong. I wasn’t.
