Publisher's Summary

Nobody knows speed like Ida Belle.

Behind the wheel of her hopped-up Blazer, she's the queen of the back roads. But when someone tries to kill Hot Rod and steals only black SUVs from his shop, Fortune worries that excessive horsepower is the least of the trouble that comes along with her friend's new ride. When it becomes clear that the car thieves didn't get what they were looking for the first time around and Ida Belle's vehicle becomes their next target, Fortune and Gertie are determined to protect their friend. Ida Belle is determined to protect the Blazer.

4 Stars

Hook, Line, and Blinker is book 10 in the Miss Fortune Mystery series. This series is set in Sinful, Louisiana, USA and follows Fortune, who is a CIA assassin in hiding, and old ladies Gertie and Ida Belle, who are lifelong Sinful residents and ex-spy war veterans, as they help solve a string of various crimes and murders.

I stumbled across these books when I decided to check out a new-to-me genre called Cozy Mysteries and someone recommended this series. Once I listened to the first book, I couldn't stop. I have been listening to all of the books back to back.

In Hook, Line, and Blinker, someone is stealing black SUVs, much like the new SUV that Ida Belle recently purchased from Hot Rod. When Hot Rod is found with his head bashed in and ranting about Ida Belle being in danger before falling into a coma, Swamp Team 3 knows they need to jump into action to solve this before Ida Belle is hurt or killed. In this book, the ladies team up with Big and Little Hebert again. I have quickly grown to love those mob men and their head bodyguard. There were a few twists in this book and the ending even surprised me.

I recommend this series and suggest reading each book in order since each book builds upon the prior book's story and it makes everything that much more entertaining and enjoyable. If you like books with a big dose of humor, this is the series for you. I have found myself laughing out loud too many times to count.

The same narrator reads for the whole series. She does a good job and I really like the fact that the character voices are consistent from book to book.

Fortune, Ida Belle, and Gertie. And Carter LeBlanc

Humorous situations ,lots of plot twists, suspense, good police work, vivid and well developed characters, great narration; this series has all this and more. Unfortunately Book 10 is the last novel in the series. Well, actually, Book 11 titled Change of Fortune was published in Kindle and paperback formats one month ago. I hope it is available in audio soon. I love this series! Note: the novels should be listened to in order.

Much better than Later Gator

Have listened to all of the Miss Fortune series books in order so far- Later Gator is definitely the weakest. If you enjoy the series, don’t give up with Later Gator. Glad that Hook Line and Blinker is more up to Jana Deleon’s standards. The whole series is a cross between the Apple Dumpling Gang and Nancy Drew. Very enjoyable, funny, and a great way to pass the miles on a long car trip.

Love

I love this series. I almost wish the “romance” wasn’t a part of it though. It’s so secondary it’s almost silly. But as usual, I will say PLEASE STOP saying LeBlaunk. LeBlanc is French. And Hebert is NOT he-bert. I cringe every time I hear it. But that’s really the only things I can complain about.

More of the same

Same as earlier books. Still a lot of fun, but nothing new. On to the last!

One of my favorite series ever!

The Miss Fortune Mysteries is one of my favorite series ever with just the right amount of laugh out loud humor and a smart, sassy and capable heroine (which I greatly enjoy) and wonderful supporting characters. Better than early Stephanie Plum. Add to that the excellent narration by Cassandra Campbell and the stories come to life. Thanks to Audible and the author for the deal that produced the last two audio books which I've already devoured. I'm happily looking forward to the next book in the series. Love the series but hate hanging.

Laughing is one honest remark. I guess it’s because I’m retired also. Gertie is a hoot and remind me of a friend. I’ve lived most of my life on the swamps of Fl so this book rings true to the pet alligators. Love the book but hate cliff hangers

love this light-hearted series,

pure escapism, but so enjoyable and the story flows, beautifully. The narrator does a brilliant job bringing the story to life.

The Sinful Trio Reel in the Bad Guys Once Again.

One single storyline feels unusual, but doesn't detract in anyway from the exploits of the Sinful Trio.
Fast cars, Gertie mishaps, and Celia's underwear on show yet again. (No romance storyline, phew!)

I Did NOT See That Coming!

The blurb on the back will lead you to believe that this is your typical Miss Dortune tale. It is not! Yes it has its typical Gertie howlers, but the story is complex and engrossing and quire complicated.

You will enjoy it!
